This is a pretty good app. Sometimes the interface can confuse you a little when you start the app and think the GPS is running. Later you check and find your route wasn't traced. You just have to remember to click on the GPS tab first, then click start. I do like how you can sign up for medals, run your route, and once the medal distance is complete, they send you the medal. Cool. A little quirky on the app but overall it is pretty good.

The app can be unreliable because it counts any movement that changes the phone's position as a step, whether it's because you raise your arm while holding your phone or if the phone is in the car and shakes if you go past a speed bump. However, I like the feedback the app gives when you reach 6,000 , 8k, and 10k! I've used it consistently for the last two years.

I really like this free version. It's user-friendly and does what I need it to (counts steps and mileage, no bells and whistles). I haven't had any problems with it. I did customize the settings to my preferences (turned off notifications, set my own baseline step goal). I appreciate that it just runs quietly in the background, but I can pull down the notification bar anytime to see my progress.

After the new update yesterday, the app has become unusable, completely freezes my phone, draining battery rapidly (under the exact same settings as before the update where these issues never happened before), is constantly force closing mid step count, and thus starting me at 0 steps again. I can't even go to the trends tab anymore as it just black screens the app and the cycle repeats. Is there an option to just roll back to a previous version? None too happy.

Love the free version. Does exactly as advertised and highly recommend. Only reason I didn't Give it 5 is because I tried the fee $ version and it didn't work. Like.. At all. It immediately changed me yet provided none of the service. (huh???). Felt scammed. Honestly If the free version wasn't so good I would have dumped the app entirely. Very disappointing. My recommendation: Stick with the FREE version. Simple but effective.

The app has some nice features. However, once I noticed it changing my data, I deleted it immediately. 2 days in a row I used the app for 3.5 mile walks. I have both of those walks completely logged with the app, verifying that I did 3.5 miles. Yet, for my daily distance total on both of those days it says I did less than 3 miles which is impossible if the app itself logged 3.5 miles on just the one walk alone. I contacted Pacer and they said they could do nothing to fix it. Garbage.

Data erased when changing phones. This app was okay for tracking my steps, but I really liked it most for keeping track of my weight and seeing my progress on a graph. Disappointingly, when I changed phones, all of my data was wiped out. This has happened twice. I tried to sync the data via my Facebook login, but it synced with the new, blank slate app. Not cool!

Updated August 2021. Just using the app on my phone. Works well, and the ads are not obtrusive. Installed 2 years ago and I love it. Recently using the GPS to track daily walks. I'm getting notices of a new version but I'm afraid to update it, for fear that it will require registration, logging in, and other things I have no interest in doing. Developers, please allow the original app to continue to run.

It's good if u want an ideal of how many steps u take per day but just as another review stated, when moving around the house, when ur constantly stopping and starting walking, it doesn't pick up on ur steps right away. At first it was just a few steps it didn't count from time to time, I was fine with that but a moment when I was intentionally walking and looking for the number to change, it didn't change at all. It didn't count over 30 steps I had taken. On this note, I have to try another app

I have loved the GPS tracking for when I walk but since the last update, it doesn't seem to be functioning correctly. It will track mileage up to 0.3 or so and then stay at that mileage. It is still counting the correct number of steps so I think there is a bug in that last update. Hope you can fix it soon. I've used this app for the last 2 years and have loved it & shared it with many friends.

This app would be perfect if it had a one time purchase option. Even if it was a little higher than your average app. I hate having to keep paying on something year after year that doesn't get much different over time. That is called gouging. And the yearly price is outrageous just for one year. I will/would never pay it. "One time payment", not only would buy it I would tell others all about it and convince them to buy it if they were looking for a pedometer app.

Started off great, but lately has glitches. I love how it keeps track of steps, calories, keeps daily logs so you can see what your exercise trends are each day. I also really like you can pause the counting of steps so it doesn't drain the battery. But lately the app won't open or if it does it doesn't stay up long & disappears off screen again. It does keep track of steps if I can keep app open long enough to unpause my steps. Just Uninstalled app, going to reinstall in hopes that works

I really liked this app, until I got a new phone. Like many other apps, it uses the built-in Android movement sensor. Both my new and old phones are Motorola. I carried both telephones, simultaneously, for a few days, and got a widely different step count. Presumably the fault is with the system, not the app, but I see no point in using an app, if one cannot be confident that the pedometer gives a somewhat reliable step count.

May 4th. Updated the app and it stopped counting my steps. The widget doesn't appear at the top of my screen anymore and when I close out the app on screen, it doesn't count my steps anymore. Please fix this! It counts steps accurately enough for me and comes with the ability to interact with other people using the app and encouraging you to meet your goals together. It doesn't get a full five stars because after the update comments and ect are unable to be read. I hope they fix it soon!

Edit: Took off a star because I can't figure out how to stop getting charged for the ad-free version. There was no way to cancel in the app, and under "Manage Subscriptions" all it says is that my free trial is over and how much I'll be charged each month, no "Cancel" option. I'm going to go into my Google Pay account to see if I can revoke permissions for it, but it shouldn't be that complicated.

This is a great app that I would gladly purchase at a reasonable price but not for $500+ because thats what a subscription will eventually cost. Its a really good app that uses my phone's hardware that I've paid for to function as a pedometer. I can understand if you need to pay for servers to provide a social experience but stats can be processed on the phone just as other apps do. At a minimum, an option to pay to remove ads would be nice. I'll eventually find another app but this was close.

Update: Pacer has published a fix for the problem of not restarting after a reboot. I really appreciate their responsiveness and the excellent comrunication about their progress! Back to 5 stars! Previous update: Reducing stars. Google rebooted my phone midday yesterday and Pacer lost over 10,000 steps as a result.. But "Step Counter" did not lose any steps. So no excuses! Editing to add: I have sent in-app feedback as requested.

I have been enjoying the Pacer app for @ 7 years now. The version that I use is fantastic. I record my daily walks with my history, time, distance, rate, route walked, elevation and date, steps taken & calories burned. All these features are available in the free app. The app also is adjustable to your stride length, sensitivity on your body and more it's absolutely fantastic I would recommend Pacer to anyone who is serious about their workouts or even just to monitor your physical activities .

It's okay, not great, and I wouldn't suggest it if it didn't have really cool challenges. Things are in odd places. For example, log activity should be one of the first things you see. But you have to scrolls for it, making it easy to miss. This then makes the calorie counter is drastically off because it seems to just count calories burned from walk. The log activity button only seems to be in one place, but there are so many times suggested workouts comes up. The app is just so clunky.

Please fix your app! I'd like to do some of your challenges, but there's no way to do it if it's going to randomly pull 4 times the number of actual steps with no way to correct it. I've tried everything, including uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling. Changing the data source and resynching the data (it doesn't replace the information and doesn't pull from the specified data source). The app is what everything is based on , so it's essential it works properly.
