The app is barely functional. Save your money. Loved it at first, but wish i hadn't wasted money on a yearlong subscription. Every update makes the app harder to use. I can barely get through a lesson anymore as it jumps around, giving me things that are much too advanced or that I've never learned before, and the audio is completely screwed up, so even when I get to practice something at my level, it won't register the notes and tells me I got everything wrong.

Using an Akai MPK mini 3 on phone, I couldn't get input lag fixed, always a 1/8th note off. App needs a manual slider to adjust the lag a tiny bit more if needed. Also, the beat circle that drops onto a note to tell you when to hit it is not accurate at all. When the circle hits the note the exact frame to hit the note should be indicated with a special icon, like a horizontal line or a fancy splash as if the circle is bouncing off the note. Anything would be helpful.

Love this app so far! I love how it progresses in difficulty and teaches you things one step at a time. A few things: the timing for when the notes are supposed to be played is slightly off and therefore my timing can't sync and I end up missing the notes. ..another thing is, I'm having difficulty reading the notes since I haven't memorized the scale yet. There are different notation views which is awesome, but I need one that had the note letters and has the real symbols also.

For the most part, it's fine. However, my biggest issue with it is that, at the beginning of each lesson, it shows you which notes and positions you'll need to use for the lesson, great! Then as you get further, it presents only the first hand position you'll use, making it so you get halfway through a lesson and then it throws something completely different at you and just expects you to be able to rush a position change with absolutely zero warning.

After trying this for a few weeks the "gaming" novelty wore off quickly. The music that plays while you do was distracting and is made more annoying by having to turn it off every time you play. No ability to pause and let you catch up when you make a mistake, song choices I felt were lacking, and the condescending voice that regurgitate platitudes when you mess up was grating. All made worse by the fact that I had to sign up for a year to get a trial and guess what? No refunds.

As a complete beginner who didn't know where to start, this app has frustrated me more than anything. The $20 a month plan doesn't even get you all the songs. More importantly, having just completed level 3, I don't feel like I've learned much. It just shoves a bunch of songs in your face without much explanation of what's going on. When trying to read sheet music, I realized the app hadn't taught me anything useful. Finger placement isn't clear. This app is not comparable to a good teacher.

It's good and enjoyable. It makes reading music notation accessible with the presentation, and then you immediately gave to apply what you learned to the songs you play in the app. Then you're supported with two different types of visual aids to set what you're playing as well as hear it. Just make sure the volume on the app isn't too loud so that you're able to register your notes as you're playing them.

My experience with yousician has been amazing, its pretty much perfect. It's super easy to understand and asks you how much experience you have. So if there are people who have experience, unlike me, you domt have to go through multiple lessons before actually learning something new. It's an amazing app and I think you should download it.

I found it to be gimmicky, overcomplicated, and the teaching voices sound condescending to me. I also was frustrated by the program using a 3 stars rating system based on how well it determined you play based on rhythm and tone when it doesn't always register the note you're hitting. I was playing notes for too long just to get the microphone to pick it up, which is a bad habit to get into. I eventually went with a different app, Flowkey, which is a no-frills alternative that's not as judgy.

I think ultimately this just depends on what you're looking for in a casual education. I come from a classical saxophone background so it makes more sense to learn from high quality literature; I wanted to moreso experience the quality of the lessons, and I think they're fine for what it is. The premium bundles are absolutely overpriced though. The worst thing is just the basic theory foundation. I felt like I was losing brain cells reading the colored notes with no rhythmic notation.

I've been playing piano for 10 years. After quarantine hit I stopped having lessons, so I decided to polish up my skills and keep learning independently with this app. But there's a problem. It NEVER asks you what level you're at, and when you try to go to a level of playing more suited to you, everything beyond the first 2 levels is locked behind a subscription pay wall. I can see how this might be useful for beginners, but this was a bad experience.

One of the worst apps for learning anything I've ever seen. I'll play the right note and it will mark it as wrong. So after that I tried the built-in piano and all it did was lag and pause for no reason. It only gives you 10 minutes to practice a day. Not to mention the unskippable, obnoxious premium ads I get bombarded with everytime I press continue. Every single time without an exception. Truly one of the worst learning apps I've seen in a while, it's a frustrating experience all around.

An amazing app to help you learn the piano. Aside from similar apps, it did a great job picking up whatever note was played. I also like the selection of songs available from their built in songbook. Most songs feature a list of different versions of the song from the melody (which is the least difficult) to a full-blown solo (the most difficult).

Really didn't like the format and UI with colors and the ball, so you sit there waiting to pound your piano key when the ball is smack-dab in the middle of the note. If too soon or too late note turns red but suppose you hit the wrong key? You can't tell. Then, you get stuck in a loop with seemingly no way out to rechoose your level. Awkward and clumsy. Simply Piano has way better UI, navigation, and teaching method. This was awful.

Yousician is a great way to learn an instrument... but the piano lessons need some polishing (especially compared to the guitar, which is amazingly thorough). In the first couple of levels, lots of bits are missing. Some of them may be intentional choices like assuming you know how to read music. Some are obvious mistakes, like the Am chord lesson not being included in the lessons flow, but other lessons referencing it like you already learned it. I would love more technique instruction too.

I love how the app gives you free lessons to actually learn the piano(unlike other apps where you have to pay). even though you do need to pay if you want the app to teach songs and offer challenges. I also like how it gives you the option of having a piano and not having a piano because not everyone can afford a piano! This app is amazing for learning how to play the piano because for a lesson, if you want to do the whole thing first try, GO FOR IT, if not then take little parts they give you.

Been a great addition to the homeschool curriculum. My kids have been playing for about 1 1/2 years and all 3 have become really good at playing. It was a lot of work, they practice 1hr every weekday, and then we have them perform for the family, but they now enjoy the work and are all playing level 12 or higher songs. I do wish the song selection was a bit better, a lot of pop songs I don't approve of, it there are some great classical songs like Fur Elise and the rondo alla turca.

I like the concept of this app and it makes it fun to learn for kids. However, I walked by and saw my son (9) playing and noticed the app was teaching him the 1st inversion Chord for C major, which is way harder than the root position. Makes no sense to me why you would complicate this so early. Inversions shouldn't even be taught until the intermediate level (imo). He just got introduced to chords and now I have to explain to him there is a easier way, but the app asks to play thr hard way.

I have not used the app for the piano lesson yet. My rating only comes from the fact that once the 7 day trial is over, you are charged the full amount for a 1 year subscription. I was under the impression that I could pay a month to month subscription. I don't like that you're charged the full amount when there hasn't been enough time to even test the app to see if it works/is a good fit for learning piano. I may ask for a refund and cancel for this reason. Cost is $139/yr

This app was really fun in the beginning. I thought it was the one for me and enjoyed using it a lot. Free piano lessons right? Wrong. As soon as you pass level one you can't do much without paying for the app. Just like every other piano teaching app, not great at all. I get having to pay to do the extra things, but don't think we should have to pay for the main path. If it wasn't for this, my rating would be much higher.
