Go to App Settings and Clear the Cache!!! I almost left a 1* review like so many others when the app started to refuse to play videos and would keep kicking me out. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it, no Bueno. But I went to the app cache (go to settings, then apps, and app memory/storage) cleared it, and now everything is running as smooth as butter!!! Besides this little quirk the app is incredible and everything YouTube should be!

This app has ads I wouldn't recommend downloading. There's no options to log in or any search filters. Plus this app has many annoying ads that pop up full screen and even if you click exit it automatically redirects you. Even if you come back later on it will still be there until it redirects itself. The reason I downloaded this app was for an ad free experience but I've since uninstalled it.

This app was great and the small bugs were tolerable until full screen unskippable ads got implemented. I understand that you have to pay for dev on the app somehow, but a small unintrusive ad scroll at the bottom would be a better choice. I'd even pay $2 or $3 for an ad free pro version - but I'm not going to use an app that has these insane, intrusive full screen ads you can't get out of without closing the app entirely.

Cons: It does not play full screen. Certainly no auto-rotate, but also no option within the video. You can't sign on to YouTube account. Even after adding subscriptions, it does not suggest videos. The only tabs are "subscriptions" and "trending". Videos also take a little longer to start than YouTube. Pros: no in-video ads! (PLENTY OF ADS below the videos and in every tab)

Where has the REPEAT BUTTON disappeared to? I found this the most helpful feature! I appreciate that adverts are removed, but there are other apps that can do that. I fail to see what distinguishes this from others? Often it buffers, needs to reload, closes entirely, or simply keeps buffering and doesn't play anything at all. This is really annoying. Once BRILLIANT, since the repeat button has been removed, less so.

Still 2 complaints. The start up error got fixed, which is good. But now I can't play videos in the background like i could used to. If that's the case, what is the point of the notification bar player? Second is i still can't sync my subscriptions from YouTube over. Minus 1 star from before, i wish you can play videos in the back again.

Delivers on no ads and background play promise, but the app itself provides an overall unpolished experience. Some of what adds to this is not being able to view comments, auto rotate not working (even when turned on in the phone's settings) and constantly getting a "An error occured" message at the bottom when doing just about anything in the app (what exactly is this error and what's causing it). Hopefully an update will resolve these errors, otherwise a decent alternative to Youtube.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. UI can be clunky and you'll have to manually resub to channels you want. Outside of the clunkiness it's exact what's on the tin. You get ad free YouTube videos and most videos will play just fine. Most issues come from not being logged into YouTube while using this (so age restricted vids won't load, for example). I've been using this for about a year now, decent alternative if you're able to get use to the UI & you don't care about reading YouTube comments.

This is a great app. It has ads but not no ads that interrupt seamless streaming, just ads you can scroll past if you're not interested. It would be 5 stars but the first song up on autoplay is always "best of" and takes the variety out. That being said it may be because the app is still learning my preferences or that it's meant for a playlist to be created. If either is the case then I'll change my review to 5 stars. So much better than YouTube.

Lousy app. Doesn't share properly - if at all. Doesn't let you log into your YouTube accounts so it doesn't import history or subscriptions or anything useful. It also doesn't let you like or save anything which is very bad for stats. Plus it's super annoying how the search option works. You have to know exactly what you're looking for. Even worse, the analytics have no option to make suggestions based off of what I've already watched. Lame

Could use a few extra features found in YT, but a way smoother experience than the alternative. The ads have gotten out of hand over there, so this is very welcome. UPDATE: A few Android updates later have yielded issues with this app. Videos stutter even on 480p and below, autoplay stopped working, and videos sometimes just stop buffering entirely even with a clear cache and history. I contacted the developer and they said they will update it, but Android is updating faster. Uninstalled.

For what I want it to do, which is be able to watch YT without having to go through cesspool video ads, it works. It even keeps playing when you go out of the app. But often times it will crash, or refuse to play certain videos. It gets a C+, not the go-to, but not outright bad. Edit: This thing is broken. It barely plays any videos, if it does at all. DON'T INSTALL THIS.

The app is great, but it's also a lie. There are ads, just no video ads. You still get the typical mobile game ads and thanks to the new update, you can't always immediately skip/close them anymore. Plus, since there's no sign ins, it doesn't really have a recommendation system. That isn't *that* bad, but it is annoying that I get the same stupid videos from creators I hate everytime I load it up. Still, much better then actually using YouTube

I used to like this app quite a lot, it removes the ads from in front of videos. But now I can't navigate to more than one video without getting an un-skippable pop-up ad covering my whole screen and preventing me from doing anything. I can close the app to get rid of the ad, but then when I go to watch the same video I tried before, it will pop-up another ad. I am getting very tired of it. Quite frustrating.

It's good if all you care about is skipping in-video ads. That said, it is not ad free, and has a bunch of other issues. It cannot shuffle playlists, always playing in the default order. It does not accept your YouTube account, so all playlists must be completely remade from scratch to use on here. And the Subscriptions tab doesn't even work properly. I subscribed to somebody to test it out and all it did was show their most recent video- nothing else. Overall, with a few tweaks, could be 5/5.

Editing again: ads are much more intrusive now.... Which was against the whole point. Uninstalling. Old: Hadn't rated before, but after seeing the flood of recent bad reviews I felt compelled. It worked great, then stopped playing YouTube videos for a couple weeks and was just a media player. I uninstalled but decided to see if it came back and I am glad I checked again. Works like it used to! Thanks, and hope the rating goes back up again

Got it because people raved about its adblock feature, but trying to watch videos is painful. When a video opens my phone starts vibrating like San Francisco in 1908, then there's a "Lord of the Ring trilogy" length delay before the video starts playing. And to top it all off, theres no full screen mode. I guess if all you care about is being able to listen to music with your phone closed it might be useful, but I'll deal with the ads on YT personally

It still has ads, but a looooot less than YT's ads. You may encounter around 1-2 ads every hour or so with Playtube, and that's only if you're using the app to look for videos. If you leave it with the autoplay, there won't be ads. One small problem the app has is the video glitching--sometimes the video may take forever to load, or it may abruptly stop playingin the background until you open the app window again. All in all, great app!

Pros: It does play audio when display is off, which is very convenient! Cons: Ads play with no warning and are very long. Ads don't play during videos though, which is nice. Bugs: 1) "Could not play video" error. 2) Buffering can be problematic, especially when you select a lower resolution (ironically). Also, there's no option to make the video fullscreen

App is okay but there's definitely issues that need to be addressed, videos require me to mash the play button 20 plus times before it plays and even then I'll have to drag the slider back and forth before it recognizes and plays. it'll even open ads when you exit a video and force you to close the app and reopen it to get rid of them. App is desperately in need of a new update and I hope it's resolved instead of being abandoned because it's not too bad.
