After more than ten years together, I have uninstalled this app. The update in 08/2023 and "fix" in 09/2023 have rendered this app so unstable that it freezes every time I open it. I loved this app for the high level of customization it offered, like prioritizing hourly news updates and more. I've tried other apps that lack features: iHeart, Spotify, Google, etc. Current bugs in this app forced me to hunt for a suitable replacement. UPDATE: Thanks for fixing bugs and making improvements.

I like it's layout but it's constantly skipping huge portions of podcasts or skipping back 5 or more minutes and repeating portions. My phone will be connected to Bluetooth and the podcast will play, but just over my phone causing me to miss portions of the podcast until I figure out what's happening. I've been using it less than a month and I'm done with it.

When I heard Google Podcast was closing I researched other apps and this was on almost every list. After using it for a few months I can say the free version is better than Google's was. I really like that there is a setting to auto download episodes when you add them to your queue, instead of new episodes only. I'm new to a few podcasts so I'm trying to catch up on their backlog, so I appreciate that I only have to add it to my queue for it to download instead of manually doing both.

Switched to this one because of Google Podcasts randomly deciding to shutdown last year and it's truly amazing! It has every little feature I want in a podcast hosting app (like being able to show just the default artwork of the podcast on the lock screen instead of the individual artwork for each episode) and then some. Highly recommend this if you want more control over your podcast listening experience to make it more enjoyable.

I was bummed when Google announced it was killing Podcasts app. I still miss Google Reader. However, since researching and finding Pocket Casts, I'm actually glad Google killed off their app and moved it to their music app. If they hadn't, I would have never found the superior Pocket Casts. It is one of the few apps that has cloud syncing between devices so I can keep my playlists up to date. I haven't found anything I want to do that is t built into PC. Good riddance Google Podcasts!

Great app! It plays podcasts without any issues, the UI looks nice, and it has almost all of the features I would expect. The one feature I would request is for there to be a way to make user arrangeable playlists. It can generate automatic lists using filters, which is a nice feature, but other than by duration and date published, there is no way to manually order the actual episodes in the filter list. Anyways a good app that pretty much does exactly what I want my podcast app to do!

Came here when Google podcast shut down. Was happ6, but for the past 3 weeks or so what I am listening to will randomly stop transmitting to my headphones. It is playing, but no sound. I press pause, then play, and the audio comes back. Not the headphones, has done it with multiple pairs. And tonight it won't even start playing the podcasts. Very frustrated when all I want to do is sleep.

It's been a great replacement to Google podcasts. Pros: - I like that you can search inside each independent podcast feed. - It is free - Simple UI, not too much going on. - Not always trying to push new podcasts to you. Cons: - It sometimes takes a while to buffer. - Needs a different search algorithm for searching new podcasts. It takes a while to search new content. Recommendation: Should probably make the New Release Filter the main tab and move the podcasts tab somewhere.

Updating my original review from 2014. App is still going strong. I've been using it exclusively for a decade, and have subscribed to the premium service for many years. While i haven't tried alternatives in quite a while, I'm not sure what else i could need a podcast app to do that PocketCasts doesn't already do. I can't remember any major technical issues. It's installed on 2 devices and i switch between them throughout the day. playback position syncs automatically, which is clutch.

just another podcast app that has way too many ads and difficult functionality. went to import all my subscriptions it tried to get me to import them from an app I no longer have and there was no way I could do it from a file I already have saved. when they make transferring your subscriptions this difficult it's really not an app that you need. if you have subscriptions in a file already saved to your device then you will not be able to download them onto this app.

Started using this to replace my Google podcasts. It randomly skips content in my podcasts from time to time- just jumps a few seconds ahead. Sometimes it's once, then it stops. A few times it has been ongoing and repeated over and over for long stretches ruining entire segments and interviews. Even if I rewind to try again the skips are in the exact same places. I'm trying a few other options such as podcast addict or downcast. I can't stand this anymore!

I read great reviews so I thought I'd check it out as an alternative to my audiobook player that plays everything in one folder. This app doesn't look like it will work for me. It looks like it's not possible to select a folder, rather you have to select each file in the folder. This is problematic since it means it won't see new files unless I add them manually. There ought to be an Add Folder option.

I've been a long time user of Pocket Casts and it's generally been fine other than occasional playback blips. Recently there have been changes to the lock screen buttons that have changed a bunch of times: once adding a speedup that I pressed by accident and couldn't find anywhere in the app to undo before finding it on the lock screen. Now the rewind button is 30 seconds instead of the 10 seconds in app when I unlock. It feels like a magic 8 ball is controlling feature flags.

Great app. No notes Edit: The app recently has become incredibly slow for doing anything at all. Takes way longer for new episodes to populate, the play button won't work the first 5 times I click it, and even after it does respond, the audio will take ages to play. Have been using this app for years now and never had these issues. Bought a new phone recently and the bugs continue on this one too, so it's not an issue with my device.

One of the best podcast apps I've ever had. I'm so glad I got this instead of trying to figure out YouTube Music podcasts. It has all the podcasts I had before. It's not hiding much behind a paywall, and it's mostly just cloud storage. You can also skip the beginning/end after you tell it how long it is.

Stops playing with spotty internet. I drive through areas with no internet and it stops playing everytime I lose internet connection. I pre download all my podcasts and don't have any problems in airplane mode. But anytime there is spotty connection it pauses the playback. Very annoying since it should have no effect on pre downloaded episodes

Update: This had been working terribly...call me crazy but I stuck it out because I liked its interface best and had high hopes. Well, after roughly 4 months of the 1st world struggles, it's suddenly working beautifully. Really really well. I never did see the response from Automatic, so I cannot speak to the help I might have received. But I'm going on a week-ish of smooth podcast streaming! It's so very delightful and what I wish for us all. Thanks be to the Pocket Casts gods!

I love this app so much! I downloaded it a couple months ago when I found out that Google Podcasts was going away, and I've found that I like it better! The interface is really nice and easy to understand and use, everything's free, and they are constantly updating to make things better! Recently there's a button that now, not only allows you to turn on a sleep timer for 1 episode but for as many as you want and play them in order from your queue! Any qualms I had have been improved! Great job!

Every podcast I listen to has at least one moment where it will skip back 2, 3, 4 minutes. Sometimes more than once. Very irritating. Otherwise it's been a good replacement for Google Podcasts, especially after the most recent update. (I don't download episodes, so it wouldn't be from that. It honestly does happen with every ep I listen to.)

Corrected the problem of no access to certain functions by ensuring correct internet carrier is selected.
