Currently, this app continues to load data, even after the download has completed. It sucked the entirety of my January data after I didn't otice that this was what was happening. I was downloading on data again just now and it attempted to do the same thing again. I had to force stop the app to keep it from using all of my data again. My wife noticed the same thing. I'm on METROPCS and she's on Google-Fi. Could have been very expensive for us. Been going on for weeks. When will you fix it?

I really like Podkicker and have used it for years. I upgraded to the Pro version because it's ad-free. But with a recent update, ads have started appearing in the form of "sponsored" podcasts in the podcast view. Even more recently, the app started auto-subscribing me to the sponsored podcasts, which is so obnoxious. I've had enough and I switched to AntennaPod, which is great! I've been using it for about a month and am uninstalling Podkicker after I submit this review.

I have the pro version why am I getting ads? Very close to moving on to a new podcast app. Update: I emailed Maple media's customer support, asking them why I'm getting ads now. this was about 2 weeks ago and they said they would get back to me after they investigated the issue. during this time I started to experiment with antennapod. I've fully made the switch over to it. It's free, no ads, good riddance podkicker.

They sold the Pro version years ago as a way to disable ads. Now they have reenabled ads on the Pro version and want you to buy an annual subscription to remove them. If you have this app, disable updates. Every update pushes some new money making scheme that makes the app worse. The best version of this app came out years ago. It was simple. Now you get popups when you start the app and ads even in the paid version. I'd refund it if I could.

I really only use this app when I'm at work. It really helps me get through the day. It organizes all my podcast and lets me know when a new episode is available. It also has an export option to personally archive your favorite episodes. I can't imagine a better app. edit: Nevermind. It was a good run but they got greedy. Ads, banners, subscriptions. Even after buying Pro. Shame on them.

Been using this app for well over a decade and paid for the pro version in 2019, uninstalling it today. The sponsored podcasts were annoying, the banner ads I can deal with, but a full page "please pay for a subscription for this pretty please 🥺" every time you open the app is straight up unacceptable. Really hate how you can't just buy something and expect it to work anymore. And it doesn't even show episode art! Great way to treat your users after 12 years!

I tried a lot of podcast apps, this is the best. Simple, quick, and full featured. Also the smallest app file size. Update: they just switched to ads, paid for pro version to get rid of ads years ago. Now they want subscription. They are not the only podcast app out there, what a horrible decision. When from 5 star to 1 star instantly.

Worth the small price. Lean and clean, an essential tool for over 3 years. Some podcasts start a few seconds in, sometimes miss a few words. Overall an essential tool for my podcast pleasure. That was my 5 star review from 5 years ago for the PRO VERSION. Dropping a couple stars for the inclusion of sponsored podcasts in my subscription list and an ad that is the first thing I sometimes see [and have to close] when I start the app. What I said before still applies, the app works well.

I bought this app because it allowed me to play podcasts easily, and without ads cluttering up the interphase. Now "sponsored" podcasts are listed when starting the app and are listed in my list of podcasts. I'd be fine if this was a free product, the developers need to get paid. But this was a purchased. Would not purchase again and would encourage others to not purchase either.

I've used Podkicker Prod for about 8 years now, and I've always loved the simple, user-friendly experience. But I paid up for an ad-free version, and now there are "sponsored" podcasts cluttering up my feed list. Not cool, guys. That, with along with a few bugs that haven't been fixed in years, is making me switch once and for all.

I have used Podkicker happily for years and years. I even paid for the Pro version (which has not started me from paid promotions, recently). I used to love this app because it was simple, streamlined, and did the one thing I wanted it to do -- play podcasts. It is now failing to do that. Recently, this app has really gone downhill. It crashes multiple times during regular use. Podkicker Pro can no longer play podcasts. Also, there's promoted ads for unwanted podcasts, and other annoyances.

4/30/2024 I've been using this app for well over a decade. It used to be a joy to use, but now there are "sponsored" podcasts in the listing. I bought the Pro version to avoid ads! Also, the app no longer automatically goes to the next podcast. This is a royal pain in the rear, especially when I'm driving long distances. I see other users are having issues, and I'm going to check out their alternative app suggestions.

Ads in the premium experience 👎 I love this app - it's been my go to podcast player for nearly a decade now, I've recommended it to a dozen friends, and paid for the pro version because I hate ads and like supporting good developers. It's been stable and hasn't changed much, which is rare! The dev recently put ads in a couple of places in the paid version. I complained to support the first time thinking it was a mistake, and got no response. Time to find a new app.

This was a 5 star review. I paid for the full version for a reason, I despise ads and it is a good product. Even with the pro version, I'm getting "suggested podcasts". They said it's standard on both paid and unpaid. Edit: Now there are constantly ads on all the main pages and a pop up ad while listening to things. This is a very untrustworthy company to take my money and then give ads. EDIT: AntennaPod is WAY BETTER, happy now.

Have used podkicker for many years. But they have introduced their own ads that are added in the start, in the middle and at the end. The ads are really distracting and jarring as they are not the same volume and do not fit in with podcasts that have hosts reading their own ads. Other than the ads its been really good but it is now unusable for me. I will be replacing this app and its unfortunate because the functionality had otherwise been good. They ruined an app that worked.

Why did I pay for the Pro version to support them and get rid of ads, and now they added ads to it. Love the app, hate the ads. Edit: 8/25/25 to the developer. I updated it, and there is no option to restore purchase. Edit: 9/3/25 I have raised my review to 4 stars because they did get ahold of me and now the ads are gone again.

Same as everyone else. I paid for the premium version many years ago and loved the app. They added subtle ads at first a couple of years ago, then went full in on ads in this premium version with constant pop-ups to subscribe to their yearly plan. Dropped it for AntennaPod at the start of the year and will not look back. I didn't realize how many features I was missing on this stagnant and bloated app. Great while it lasted.

I'm out. Been using the paid pro version for years (and recommending to others) and suddenly that's not enough to prevent ads from popping up. That combined with artwork not populating occasionally and this isn't the best option anymore. edit 8/26/25: Replying to let me know that i can upgrade to a monthly subscription is not fixing my problem. Removing a star. If it were a reasonably yearly charge sure, but at 10/month, I know year 2 is gonna jack the annual rate up.

I PURCHASED PRO to get away from ads. Now not only are there ads, but if I click anywhere near the ad, it sends me to a new screen to make a hard sell for a not at all worth it subscription. The only reason I've stuck with it this long is that I bought the pro version. This is too glitchy and basic to pay for and even worse for free. You screwed me so buhbye.

Edit: 8/26/25: Great news, the developer has reached out to say I shouldn't see ads if I have pro. I paid for Pro years ago, so I loaded it up to see. Now they want a monthly subscription for "Podkicker Play" to be ad-free. Can I get my money back? Was 5 stars when I bought it years ago, but it has started inserting ads. That was the reason I paid for it in the first place. Reducing to 1 star. App appears to have been abandoned. Features have stopped working, such as search.
