My first scan went fairly well and I'm very happy with the result. However, now I'm trying to scan an electronic project. My project has some loose, protruding wires looping around it. I can't get Polycam to scan them. There is also a plate of sheetmetal that shows up highly deformed. Everywhere that the wires cross gets distorted as well. As a result, the scan is unusable. Polycam needs a bit more intelligence in whatever part of the software is deciding how to stitch things together.

Mediocre and low quality files. The scan previews are high quality, but the stl and obj file formats are not saved to size, so any attempt to use them or make them bigger than 0.4 mm TOTAL WIDTH they are saved at will drop all detail. I submitted a bug report, but heard nothing back. Cheesy program and unusable for any modelling. Sadly disappointed I paid for this at all.

Not bad overall. The quality is a bit on lower end. If the Devs want to improve that let me know and I can fill in what I've seen. That being said the app itself is pretty good. I would have given a higher rating if it weren't for the subscription requirement. The price asked is not worth what you get in amount of renders or quality. If they added a way to earn more renders or pay per renders I would add another star.

Signed up for trial after hearing great things from you tubers using the app. First scan I tried to do failed with no explanation. After multiple attempts to retry with all different settings available, the scan still failed with no explanation and no help or support link I could find. Sadly, this was a waste of my time, which is very very disappointing because there was so much potential.

So you get 7 free scans, which is pretty neat. You get one useless format that you can export as though. Not being able to at least have one full range of formats for export so that the user can experience the entire range of this app is disappointing. No way will I toss money at this app without being able to see what I will be working with in model space. No thanks.

The models produced are ok, the scale is off though. I wanted to try this out more, but most of the feature are locked behind a monthly subscription. For this type of utility I don't see how a subscription model makes any sense. I could only see myself using this once every month or two. I would really like to just pay a buck or two each time I wanted model.

This is a short-term review. The app's UI is pretty straightforward, and the only thing I would add or alter would be to allow manual photos (for detail) when using auto mode. Also, larger objects such as rooms fail to render in auto mode. I looked up the problem and found that you have to use manual mode. I don't know why this doesn't happen with small objects. Picture count or something Basically pretty good, easy to understand, funny problems

So far, I have created a blob. Then, when I tried to improve by following the instructions more fully, the uploads kept failing which lowered my "capture" count. 4 fails in a row, and I still don't know if this app works. It's probably great - the people in my 3D printing fb group like it - but the system of counting failures against you with no feedback as to WHY they failed is frustrating and off-putting.

Have been trying several apps for 3d scanning and all of them have had various failures. This is the first one that's actually intelligently isolated the object and made a very nicely textured 3d test. My only suggestion is to allow the user to use camera zoom to better isolate objects while using a turntable. That would make this just about perfect.

Rating for 2 reasons: 1) Potential. There's a very solid groundwork to work with as technology progresses. 2) Excellent for my purposes! I'm scanning cars, so larger objects, but I have a few tips for failed uploads I keep seeing: -Use a locator medium. I use masking tape, it's Matte finish (easier for scanner to pick up), non-damaging to most surfaces, and easily conforms to the structure. -Use an anti-reflectant spray. Foot spray tends to work for things like this, and is water soluble.

Crashes nonstop. I can't speak to whether or not it can actually create the 3d captures well because it hasn't stopped crashing from the moment I uploaded my first image set for processing. It crashes as soon as I open the app and exit the camera feature. Aggravating to say the least. I'm going back to my regular photogrammetry software on my computer. Thanks.

It looks like a good app but requires subscriptions to actually save your result as 3d. I would not mind pay as you go, or buying the app outright, but I can get better results with Meshlab for free and no subscriptions. (In my case, I would rarely use the app, so a subscription is overkill.) It was also really annoying to find this out after spending 20 minutes carefully taking photos. Otherwise, for a relatively easy scan, the results looked pretty good in the in app viewer.

This ap is both great and frustrating until I finally decided to subscribe. I did a lot of testing, lots of fails, lots of learning, several impressive results. That is all until I finally decided to subscribe. After that I have gotten nothing but absolute failures and bad results that don't come close to the pictures from the scan. Thankfully I didn't pay for a year! Save yourself the headache and don't bother.

Great app for making 3d models with cameras that don't have time of flight sensors. I wish the trial would give a few more freebies but you can earn more just by rating the app and other small task. I'm still weighing whether to subscribe but definitely give this a shot. I also think the app should allow the user to select the areas in the photos for more defined locations for the algorithm/cloud to create from.

You can tell the designers and creators are working hard so the consumers have a great experience with a good product. I wish they had a better free version as it seems they are pushing hard for the upgrade, which is the business model for paid services. They want to give you just enough to intrigue you but also stuck with keeping the app or uninstalling it.If you're a designer like me, the free version is not adequate, and i don't have the money to upgrade, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth

No way to use existing photos in the app, and the website upload doesn't work for more than maybe tens of pictures - not enough for a good result. Taking new pictures in the app, I get lots of failures. For the amount of time to get one good result, I might buy a dedicated 3D scanner rather than pay for the app and struggle. Maybe better instructions would increase the success rate? What's the best background? Do tracking dots help? What about scanning spray? How many photos are ideal?

I'm sure the app works fine on the paid version when using clean-cut shots with consistent backgrounds and bright diffused lighting, but my bigger issue is that when you get a set number of uploads on the free version, when processing a file and the upload fails, reprocessing the file eats another one of your uploads. My file failed to process its 230-some-odd shots 4 times in a row, so now I have no slots left, and nothing to show for it. Not happy.

Uploading is successful but processing fails. Then if you reprocess the same set of photos, it takes away from the amount of free photo captures you have left. It's not the customer's fault if processing fails, so it shouldn't count against the number of free photo captures someone has in order to try out the product. In addition to that, free photo captures drop by 2 to 3 instead of just 1 at times. This seems pretty shady to me, forcing you to buy a subscription if you want to continue.

Captured ok, but the user interface for working with the result flat out sucks. Trying to crop, no matter how you try to position the volume, the object would move with it, never starting in same plsne, finally said no more f's to give and flushed the model. Could not even find an undo or restore to original or even just undo last. UI needs lots of work. Capture actually looked good. If I could have gotten past cleanup, I could have tried other things. For now time to try the rest of similar app

Using for 3D PRINTING. Within the first 30 minutes of using the app, I have successfully scanned a peanut butter jar why because I can... you can use the free version of the app, but you'll be limited to credits kinda like Adobe AI. You can get more credits by leaving a review and doing some side mission stuff, or you just pay and have no worries about credits also for the free version found a bug or maybe not, but if you upload your work and it fails for whatever reason you still use credits.
