The update has made some things better, but there are still problems. One major one is that the playlists start from song one when you switch... the old version at least tried to maintain your position. Another is that albums added to a playlist that's being shuffled end up not shuffled; after hearing the fifth song from an album I just added, I realized it wasn't a coincidence. The resume with headphones feature doesn't always work either. It actually hardly ever works.

After a week of using the free version, this is the best sounding, and easiest to use Android player I've had the pleasure of using. Finding album art is painless, and quick. Lock screen options are as simple/fleshed out as you choose. All around, simply a great player. **Note** Reboot your phone if you are having remote/widget control issues after the latest update.

Update: my other music player broke so I cane back to Poweramp to see if they have fixed the issue that I had with it and they did. I'm glad to say that I am back with poweramp. Ive had this music player for at least 5 years as my player of choice until the new 8.1 update on my Google Pixel, now I can't use the back, play, or forward buttons in my notification tab or lock screen. Apparently the developers aren't going to fix this so I switched music player to BlackPlayer. It's almost like Poweramp but better, especially since I'm able to use the controls in the notification tab. I Would highly suggest downloading BlackPlayer.

Best app I've ever purchased! Been using since 2011 and will never have a device without it! Edit: it's now 2021 and I have run into my first problem. I switched phones and the music that was on my SD card on the old phone was converted to a folder on the new phone since it doesn't have SD support. Poweramp can't locate any song now. Even if I downloaded it straight to my phone. Edit: I'm an idiot.

I'm a loyal user of Poweramp. THIS IS MY 1ST REVIEW! This is the main music player that I use on my android devices. I don't wanna bash the new changes. I'm willing to adapt to keep the good sound. BUT... The biggest problem that I've had with this app for the last few years is the occasional glitchy deletions of my playlists from time to time. It's this, that I'd wish you guys would PLEASE fix. Kinda hard to exercise good without a playlist.

After trying multiple players that wouldn't play content created in iTunes, this is far superior to any others I've found. Pretty much all content works (I did still have problems with one obscure Apple created format). The audio controls are plentiful and work well. This is one of the only apps I've upgraded to the pro/full version, or given 5 stars. One of the only down sides is that album art sometimes applies randomly to some songs on an album and not others.

PowerAmp is impressive. Although the learning curve is high, but once you learn it, it's extremely useful. The playback controls are a bit klunky, like hitting the next track in a playlist (which is 3 left or right arrows I thought) then it goes off to a different list, but once you learn how it operates it is fine. What is best about this music player are the controls like gapless play, the crossfade and the ability to adjust nearly every aspect of the file you want to hear. It sounds AMAZING!

Very good music player, probably the best for your phone. I have 33k songs, and it works extremely well. Scans stuff quickly, has an album art searcher that actually works, folder hierarchy, etc. My 2 complaints are concerning the playlists. If your playlist entry is not EXACTLY in the location of the place it originally was, it doesn't read it. Also, when you hit a song in the playlist that is like this, it pauses and doesn't automatically advance to the next song.

UPDATE: EQ song assignments have been stable for awhile now. Thanks. -- Been a user for a long time, but they just overhauled the interface and functionality, and took away some of the features that made it great. E.g. you used to be able to assign EQ presets to songs. Well, not anymore - as far as I'm concerned this is absolutely necessary when listening to mp3 quality. 1000's of songs with different frequency ranges, and you are not giving me the ability to assign a preset to a song?

The App is great however the price is not listed when the trial runs out. I was charged without my permission. A message that says "buy" popped up which takes you to a play store page with an INSTALL button not a buy button and no price was listed. Had to go to the store in a incognito window to discover the real price, after I had been charged for it. Very shady behavior! And a shame, coz the app is quite good.

Update 1/14/19 the good: the new UI. It's really pretty and there's lots ways to customize the layout. The bad: the new UI. It is definitely a learning curve to get everything just right, much less figuring out the v.2 skins (most which I've purchased over the years) are no longer compatible. Oh well. Still, after all this time, Poweramp remains the best music player for Android hands down. My music sounds and looks great.

This is the BEST music player I have ever seen!!! It's better than ANYTHING I've ever used. There are so many useful features that make it fun to use, the UI is immaculate and I've been looking at it in awe for the past day. It perfectly sorts out my music and even the audio quality seems better. Album covers have really good quality too. 100% worth my money. This is everything I needed man

It's the best player I've been able to find with a real equalizer customizable number of bands, customizable begining Hertz and ending Hertz or if you are a next level equalizer operater they have a parametric equalizer, which to me is the best thing about the player. But this is the unlocker that you purchase for the Poweramp player trial version.

This is one powerful and highly customizable music app. It lets you do just about everything imaginable when it comes to customization. One big drawback regarding this app is the fact that you cannot edit multiple music files metadata within it, you'll either have to edit them prior to putting them on your phone or you will be stuck trying to individually edit each song file within the app which is extremely cumbersome. My previous music player was BlackPlayer and I was able to do this.

After trying multiple free & trial apps, it's hands down the best one for local collection: - Clean UI, - Complete set of options & settings, - Supports most formats I need, - Gesture navigation is awesome & well thought. The last point is why I decided to stay on it: it allows you to switch albums/playlists real quick & one handed. The price is also very reasonable as you only have to pay once, and don't need to repay if you switch device. For how much I use it, it's definitely worth it 👍

Very Powerful and Overly Complicated. I have used Poweramp for years, and while I enjoy its main features of playing my music and how I like it played, it's very hard to learn to use it well. Tonight, I tried to export a playlist, and it just failed miserably. First, it wanted to use a restricted Android data folder, then once I pointed it to a documents folder, it claimed success, but the folder was empty. I tried again checking the box for a song list, and it failed again!

I've had this app for almost ten years and it was fine. Then I got the Nokia x100 and things started getting a little funny. The screen goes black while listening to music. This music app has everything that I want. Looks like I have to search for another music app. I guess it was just that particular phone. Everything is fine now. March 25, 2024 I still love this music player but the songs tend to skip like it's a CD player at times.

Definitely still a five-star app. I've used this for my music across roughly 6 different phones. I paid for the pro version almost immediately years ago. Full disclosure, I am on the beta program with Android running a pixel 6 as of right now. I haven't had an issue with this app since I bought it until I got the recent release of Android 15. I don't know if that's the problem. I'm assuming it is. But it is crashing fairly constantly. I've cleared the cache and done all the other routine things

Poweramp still rocks, and the recent update helped refresh the UI to feel a little more modern. I still don't love its queue system and I wish I could customize the navbar buttons (if there's a way, I haven't found it). But still an excellent player and probably the best option for us non-streaming holdouts.

I've been using Poweramp just about daily since my first smart phone in 2010. It's the most versatile app you can use for audio by far. I kind of take it for granted because I've been using this app for so long, but the developer has put an insane amount of work into Poweramp. Anything you think you need in an audio player is here plus all kinds of other things you've never thought of.
