More About PulsePoint Respond

PulsePoint Respond is a 911-connected app that can immediately inform you of emergencies occurring in your community and can request your help when CPR is needed nearby.
PulsePoint helps create an informed and engaged community that drives a “Culture of Action,” a key strategy in strengthening the Chain of Survival for cardiac arrest victims. In addition to nearby “CPR-needed” notifications, you can choose to be notified of significant events that may impact you and your family. These informational notifications provide an early heads-up to local threats such as wildland fires, flooding and utility emergencies. You can even monitor live dispatch radio traffic for most PulsePoint-connected communities with a simple tap on the speaker icon.

PulsePoint currently provides coverage for thousands of cities and communities, with many more on the way. For more information, visit pulsepoint.org, contact us at [email protected], or join the conversation at Facebook and Twitter.

PulsePoint not yet available in your community? Although we are working hard to make public safety agencies aware of PulsePoint, you can help by expressing interest to your local fire chief, EMS official, and elected officials such as your mayor, council member or supervisor. A simple note, phone call or public meeting comment would ensure that they are aware of PulsePoint. We have found that City Hall does listen and is quite willing to bring PulsePoint to the community.

PulsePoint is a 501(c)(3) public non-profit foundation.

UI for narrowing search parameters is okay, but there is no option to see more information via the lists or the map pins. Having a way to link to information pages - particularly in regards to evacuation maps, etc - would be essential. Centralized information for evacuation is critical. This app is pretty good so far. Ensure there's a way to connect to more information (if it's available), and it will be excellent.

I had to discontinue the app. Will not play audio on my phone since the last update was installed. My app doesn't let me listen to any of the radio traffic no matter what agency I'm monitoring. I have uninstalled the app several times and waited a few weeks and reinstalled it. Still doesn't work. I guess I will have to find a better app to use!

App keeps you alert to the area(s) of your choosing as far as traffic collisions or fires or what's up with that ambulance down the street. I would suggest that the radio scanner feature should stay on until I turn it off. I found this to be problematic while my neighborhood was watching a nearby fire and we were listening to the scanner and it would turn off after a period of time.

PulsePoint Helps Save Lives. I've responded to three CPR Alerts in the three years I've had it. It's been effective at getting me where I need to go with clear concise location information each time. Twice I arrived to find the patient had regained consciousness. Once I had to do CPR. I arrived ahead of emergency services each time, proving that this app creates a faster response when moments count. The secondary features of the app are also great. I can see what's happening in my area.

UPDATE: All I had to do was uncheck "ALL Rescues and individually select "Water Rescue and Technical Rescue". 5 stars now! Great app with just 1 opportunity. It is easy to setup your local agency if they're setup with PulsePoint. For larger agencies really watch what notifications you want to see. One major opportunity I see is I can't disable elevator responses. Makes me think twice about getting in an elevator after seeing all those notifications! Otherwise great app!

This app is great but I've noticed some delays (up to 52 minutes) in notifications. This could be on the call center end though as it seems to only occur with San Jose Fire Department. This should be addressed as timely notifications are imperative. Update: moved to Toledo, Ohio and the app work great! Much faster notifications.

Outstanding tool ! Allows for the nearest help be notified when it counts in rural areas. Need a way to select how far away it is, so you are not getting alerts for the entire county. Otherwise, I end up turning the app off because of too many alerts that are far away. That defeats the purpose of the app. IT is supposed to tell me as a trained resource,( pro vr not supported) in a remote area that someone needs help or there is an incident near me, that affect me, not ten miles away. Please fix

This app was great until a week ago. The sound stopped working out of no where. When you turn on sound, it turns it right off automatically. Checked for update, there is none. Uninstalled and reinstalled did not fix the problem. Please fix! I use this app faithfully to listen to my daughter when she does youth squad ambulance! Will rate 5 stars once fixed

Very cool and informative app! Has been very accurate and quick to show incidents to keep you well up to date about happenings in your area. The only improvement I'd like to see is the ability so view multiple agencies at once for incidents on the map or in a list (I live right near the boundary between two agencies, so I have to constantly toggle between the two from a drop-down to see all activity around me)

Vehicle status updates are slow. Would like to see apparatus ID expanded. Like a picture or type of vehicle and maybe what parent station. Just constructive feedback. GREAT APP FOLKS! Need more AED stations and more cities to get onboard! Thanks. Merry Christmas to all! In addition about 2 months ago the scanner audio link stopped connecting. Is this a phone compatibility issue. Same phone.

Since the last update, I don't get notifications for everything. I have all types of calls checked but only seem to get medical emergencies with a couple other things every once in awhile. When the news agencies are reporting fatal traffic accidents and structure fires at Walmart, but the app doesn't show them, it's obviously not working properly...

It os a great app! I have been notifed numerous times for CPR assist also. This being said. There are many types of calls that never appear with Seattle Fire Department. For example scenes of violence (shooting, stabbing, major assault). This really needs to change on the app. If you are on SPD real-time 911 dispatch you see these calls just not on Pulsepoint.

Great app, great idea! This app works very well. It doesn't freeze, there are absolutely zero ads, it actually updates in real time and most of the time, I get a notification of a local incident before I see or hear emergency vehicles heading to the scene. It's a true asset to community and a real lifesaver. I wish it had the ability to broadcast emergency radios including dispatch, for further communication efforts. I'd give it infinite stars, for now I can only give 5. Thanks Dev team & heroes

Pulse point is pretty accurate with dispatched calls. The only thing that could improve is having and address to the call, so responders could respond effectively. Also there seems to be a Mic at the bottom for audio that doesn't seem to work, or I don't know how to turn it on. Otherwise I thing it is a great app... Just change those two issues and it will be on POINT!

There wasn't any guide when I uploaded the app & figuring out the stations I needed to follow in the unincorporated areas wasn't all that easy. You get to choose the type of reports you get and can adjust the amount of types at any time. Plus, if you're qualified, you can be notified to go to locations where immediate CPR is needed. Ended up with 2 in order to get the coverage needed. There are a lot of reports. The app is Great! Recommend Highly!

Update: The agency I follow and was offline, was contacted by Pulse Point. They were told they know of problems and were fixing. Sound came back on yesterday. Thank you for helping me. Update: Been told the agency I'm following must have cut the feed. Loved this app. Been using for months. Then all of sudden when sound button pressed it will not stay on. So no sound. I've checked all settings. Removed and reinstalled no sound.

Nice idea, poor execution. The core goal is to be alerted when there's a cardiac event nearby so one can lend assistance. For this to work, adhering needs to be enabled. However, the app sends alerts every 10 minutes to remind you it's enabled. To get rid of that nagging reminder, alerts have to be turned off, defeating the purpose of the app. For manually looking at what's going on in a supported community, however, it is useful.

Great idea in theory, but regular outages occur. Additionally, it only works if your local emergency response agencies are part of the network. Other than that, I found the interface easy to use. The status and calls are easy to read. Addresses are cleared after the completion of emergency service. I found it can be used as a great risk management tool during wildfire season. It can give you an idea of the hazard zones. This app can also provide some insight for winter travel.

This should be the standard for the entire country. I'm lucky to live in an area that provides all but audio. Anything, and everything dispatched is displayed. I listened via scanner before the digital encrypted transponders became the norm. This helps emensely as our FD's also serve as skywarn during severe weather outbreaks, and have spotted potential tornadoes even before there is a warning on the storm on several occasions.

I had pulse point for years and like having up-to-date information on calls in the area. But then I upgraded to PulsePoint Professional Responder, and it really filled in a lot of the gaps. It is extremely helpful when I teach on different calls to my crew, as well as keep me up to date on our calls that we go on. I can't recommend it enough. It has been a tremendous help!
