More About ReadID Me

The ReadID Me app (previously known as NFC Passport Reader) reads and verifies the NFC chip embedded in electronic passports, national identity cards and other ICAO compliant identity documents (ePassport, or, in ICAO 9309 terminology, Machine Readable Travel Documents: MRTD). The app optically scans (OCR) the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) to gain access to the embedded chip. It then reads the embedded chip using NFC and displays the biographical and biometric information of the document holder, as well as document information, after which security checks, such as Active Authentication, Chip Authentication and Passive Authentication , are performed and detailed results are shown.
The app also supports electronic driving licenses (eDL, ISO 18013, currently limited to Dutch driving licenses from after November 2014).

Using this app for so long It is one of my favourite apps on the Play Store. It is always great for someone who knows how to use it. I check different countries' including British, USA and EU passports and IDs without any problems. 🌟🌠⭐✨✨.

My passport have the symbol of biometric on the cover page, however, when i started the application, it read the mrz code and when moved to next step to read the the microship, nothing happened and even no message was displayed if there is an error despite the fact that i tried to put the mobile in all the areas as illustrated in the demo. What does this mean? Is it possible to have biometric passports without microchip inside it?

Quick feedback :-) Switched phone off and on, also reinstalled app but still failing at NFC Access Control. Worked great that first time though! Tried holding absolutely still for a along time and also had no covers and still no luck. Could be my phones NFC signal loosing connection. So will try with my wife's s5 tomorrow. :-)

Great app. I was recently told at a UK airport that my UK passport chip is broken, but have since tried this app numerous times and everything seems to read and validate completely as expected (the only thing not supported is active authentication which I assume my passport doesn't have). Presumably this is enough assurance that my passport chip is not in fact broken?

Tried multiple passports - once it gets to the NFC scanning stage an error appears "Connection lost, automatically restarting" but then it goes back to the previous page. App hasnt worked as funtioned once, whereas other, simpler open source apps work first time.

A useful app, well designed and 100% free. Kudos to the developers. Note it does not read the new Polish ID cards (chip authentication failure - the app does not support CAN for authentication). * UPDATE 09/2019: Turning the PACE setting on does indeed help with Polish ID cards, big thanks! ** UPDATE 09/2020: The app reads new Polish ID cards out of the box.

This is a great app, been using it for years. Could it be that one function has been removed though? I remember I was able to use 'Share' and it would copy the passport number and expiry date information to other apps like Google Keep. But I can no longer do this, has it been removed due to privacy/security concerns? All in all, good app though 👍

The application is working very well. and I think it's the only app which is able to scan passport and ID really. I'm just worried about my data. because the application reads everything. I hope my data aren't going to be used by the developer.

Last year my passport went through the washer and was pretty beat up. I had to decide if I was going to go through the expense of getting an expedited replacement. This app helped show me that was unnecessary because the chip was still fully functional.

I have encountered some problems when reading above said ID cards. Some of them fails to read because app says access control failed. Tried entering the details manually but it still fails. Same ID reads fine when using the Verifier TD&B by IOM. Any suggestions? Already sent an email to you. But no reply

Having used this app for years, I can tell with confidence that it works very well on a range of devices. It does what it says, reading the chip in passports and ID cards. People are often surprised, after seeing the results of a scan with this app, how much data is stored digitally on these devices.

A security agent at an airport told me my passport wouldn't "scan" and I was concerned about upcoming international travel for work. This app allowed me to verify that my passport is still valid, which saved an unnecessary trip to the passport agency for emergency replacement. Great little tool.

My passport's bio page, of all places, was accidentally folded in the bag. I had to know if it works because the visa application is using that passport number. This is already my 1st renewal coz I made a physical signature mistake (it was a new sig). I didn't want to have to go through the whole process again... also want to avoid spending, if I can. I was skeptical that maybe it just scanned my info and regurgitated it but it seems its real. Coz pentablet sig was shaky as I remember it lol

Tried it on two different UK passports both with the 'chip' symbol. It reads the photo page ok but when trying to scan the chip is confusing. Place the phone on the passport and a bar followed by a green tick is indicated on the on-screen graphic. Put the phone on the photo page or back page and same again, bar followed by green tick. However when asked to move phone up and down passport nothing happens at all. Why the green tick if nothing read?

Seems to be the ONLY SERIOUS NFC reader/decrypter in the Play store. Wondering what can be added, extended, enabled, releasing a commercial/"professional" version also. Good job ! 👍 PS: BDW, tested successful read of an UK HO issued Biometric Residence Permit, I guess most of data on it decrypted, including the photo. Again, excellent work

After trying other apps that didn't work, this all worked like a charm!

You have literally given me peace of mind about my ID. I did my renew for my ID document online, I was doubting about if the information inside match with one showed physically. Thank you very much. BTW: Easy to use, fast, and no bugs

This app is very good. But for my work, I'd like to save all scan and it would be perfect if it had a scanned passport search mode. Please, do it.

BEWARE, this app requires you to take photo of your passport. It may stole your identity. It seems the app perform OCR rather than read data via NFC.

My document, should be able to screenshot. Since I cant I wont be leaving a good review. Android should have never given the power to developers to turn this off. Disappointing. Just took my other phone and took a picture of the screen. Cant see how thats any different really.
