Once you get used to it it's pretty good but does not have the ability to set individual tone sound for their notifications. It sounds just like all my other notifications which is annoying because I cannot easily distinguish what is trying to notify me for what reason. And often while texting, if for some reason I leave my keyboard I cannot return to a keyboard unless I go out of the current page and then come back at which point my text messages has disappeared and I have to start again

Two stars only because it's Open Source and "works", however, it's so annoying not receiving notifications, nor being able to jump to the first unread message... I mean... In a list of 100 unread messages it could take a loooong to find the unread line. Also in-app notifications don't play a sound and if you get out of the app the messages list will not update. The app has a lot of potential, but looks like there's no maintenance... PD: Web version at mobile is simply impossible.

All in all this messenger offers a great experience with the most important tools needed. I use it regularly on mobile and in the browser for work and to keep notes (send to myself). However, here and there are some bugs (e.g. that after sending a msg on mobile, closing the channel and reopening it, the text I sent is in the text field again in addition to the sent one, so before i can send another text, I have to remove the last text first), which sometimes are annoying.

Doesn't work, I self hosted a rocket chat server on its own machine .. can connect just fine from anywhere in the world except the app.. the app doesn't work at all, it just says "work space error" and there's no customer support for the error

Will be better if app can have notification settings for mobile and desktop. Update: It can't connect to mobile data and only works with wifi on Android devices. Plus, it recently is buggy and keeps crashing.

This is probably one of the worst chat apps I've ever used. It doesn't update correctly on Linux or Android and is consistently failing to send images on mobile. Constantly trying to convince my job to stop using this inconsistent mess of an app. Would not recommend for enterprise level communication.

Mobile app is inconsistent many errors. There has been many updates recently and error began after the 1st update. I have uninstalled the app 5 times now and that has fixed the issue each time. The issue is messages/notifications will not clear off the mobile app , they will clear off the desktop application however the mobile app does not sync with the web-based application so the messages keep building in the mobile. The only resolution is to uninstall and reinstall app to clear the messages.

I had no problems with accessing RocketChat on my web browser at a PC, but regularly had issues with mobile. Often I would be told my login credentials were incorrect (they were not) and the final issue was that I was told I had to sign in to view my group's chat, but literally nothing would respond to input. I could not sign in. I could not click the help link. I was not the only one in my group with issues so we moved on to a different platform.

I feel like this app is very laggy and inconsistent it has a hard time distubuting messages properly. They will send a message and I won't receive it till much later. And it's just the app. The desktop version dose not have this bug. I'm also unable to upload photos from my phone to the chat, even though it very clearly thinks it can.

Useless! Hotfix needed!! app no longer works. I can't respond to messages, the app constantly shows that I need to be logged in to do that. Funny thing is when I go to login it shows I'm already logged in! Plus, the app won't let me log out. Ridiculous!! My office uses this as our messanger service and I cannot respond to messages on my phone.

It's pretty glitchy and leaves a lot to be desired. Often freezes and slow to update chat. I don't think it's ever once displayed unread messages correctly. Randomly jumps/scrolls up/down when trying to read chats. Extremely difficult to use efficiently. I usually spend more time trying to get the chat to update or not randomly move around than I do actually reading chat messages. I hope there are future improvements that make it more usable.

Update 9/29 - The latest update on the 27th seems to have corrected the freezing issue. Thanks go to the developer for correcting it fairly quickly. 9/16 - Have been using for well over a year now with no problems until a couple of days ago. App starts out OK but within a few minutes it bogs down and pretty much freezes. I don't know if it's related but it was updated last week.

It's nice to know the app is in heavy development, but it doesn't bode well for it's reliability and bugginess. Every once in a while an update will break things, and everyone in our company has problems with mobile push notifications problems all the time, on Android and iOS. Sometimes they work pretty well then get completely broken. I often switch between the experimental and official app, but not in a fun way. EDIT: I'm now having to force stop and restart the app more than 10 times a day.

Great app, but need to fix the bugginess with messages. If a chat is open I will often get the notification but no message, I have to back out of the chat then click on it again to trigger it to show. Same is true if just in the chat listing. You have to quit the app and relaunch to show the new unread at the top. The app has improved alot since I first started using it, but it still is not the rock solid experience it needs to be. I will gladly change to 5 stars when fixed (:

Update: This app still needs alot of work. However, I have changed my opinion of the app team. I posted too quickly, and I have since worked with the developers to solve my issue. Granted, this issue was the result of a bad update, but the dev team quickly responded to my help ticket, and eventually solved my issue with a pending app update. "This app crashes constantly. It is completely unusable. I can't believe rocketchat, an excellent software, associates with this awful Android app."

Great quick app. Buggy at first but now pretty stable. Real test will be this week. If it doesn't freeze or slow down with a week of major market moving data coming I would call it stable. Once I got the hang of the features the app really grew on me for ease of use while mobile. It handles trading view copies perfect, easy commands to group or direct message. Seems like they are now adding features after the recent version upgrade also.

Like a poor man's slack. The app does the job and it's free, so that's great. If you have used slack, it's basically the same in many ways. A couple annoying things: * alerts are wonky cross device and when sleeping * markdown doesn't really work and behaves differently on different devices * devices will steal messages and the history isn't always accurate as a result

Very bad connection to server and slow response of app Edit 1 : (10/24/2019) what I actually meant was if you leave app in background and reopen it, it stays in disconnected state, happened with friends too, so it's not my mobile os that's killing the connection. Also when we send the message it take 1-2 seconds to go in sent state. Edit 2 : (11/05/2019) using experimental version & it's comparatively very good.
