Messaging feature doesn't work consistently while on the ship. Messages do not go through and then you may later get 20 measages all at once that were sent hours ago. Theres a couple hours every day where it just doesnt work at all. You may not get any notifications that messages were received, just need to constantly check. Overall not the best option for keeping in touch with people while on board.

The app is glitchy. Pre-cruise the app didn't work to order excursions and drink packages. On the cruise, the messaging didn't work reliably and was very delayed when it did. I had the same issues with both of my android phones. RC makes enough money to create an app for each ship, which would free up the system, which is currently very bogged down.

The app has a great concept. But it needs a lot of improvements. I was unable to get the check in to work (Thankfully my husband was able to do both of our check ins. The messaging would have been great if you were notified of the message. The only time we knew we there was a message was when we opened the app for something else. Was nice to have cruise activities and add them to your calendar. Unfortunately, you are not able to this until after you have boarded ship.

The latest update is horrendously slow. Initially, it would not let me log in until I went to reset my password on the website. The app lags so badly that I can't even use it. Please fix this ASAP. Navigating between dates on the calendar takes 1-2 minutes to change pages. The whole app seems to be frozen, although I can hear clicks when I tap on the pages. It's just so slow.

Unreliable. Logs you out at random times. Sometimes your calender is empty, or your account activity is blank. The calender is super flaky and won't allow input at times. The entire ux needs and overhaul, it's pretty, but pretty broken. Cruise was fine, but this app is garbage. I got the same notification that my departure details have changed at least 20 times, but nothing changed...

I mostly found the app useful, but the inability to access our setsail passes on embarkation day was a letdown (I had a screenshot of mine, but not everyone did). I am not sure if that was a one-time glitch or due to being in the cruise terminal. The message notifications did not always work in a timely manner (like getting notices a day after you read the message) and the app messages barely worked at all for some in our party (we had to use another app to communicate sometimes.)

Most of the app works great. The messaging between friends on board is obviously set up to force you into purchasing the internet package. At the very least, you can allow it to alert you when someone sends a message. It's difficult unless you constantly check the apps messaging to find out your friends went to dinner 20 minutes ago. The app should send alerts like a text!

The app is really handy but it seems unstable. There were many times that I didn't get notifications of messages in the messaging function of the app and missed times connecting with group I was traveling with. Had to close out completely many times to reset everything. But the calendar function was great at keeping track of all the events and fun things to do on board. Definitely useful.

There's many things wrong. The last 2 cruises we've been on you can't reserve anything through the app, despite the functionality to do so. Laser tag only comes up 2 days before it's available. I tried to reserve ANY time slot, but the app would say something went wrong. Another issue is the in-app messaging. Despite paying for internet, many of us get our messages delayed by 10-20 min. Or you'd get a notification, tap it, and it's not there. Later, you would find it 10 messages up, out of order

Good ability to reserve. I like the daily calendar and my calendar concept. Navigation, user interface needs improvement. I wish we could search in the app. During the cruise there's an in-app notification that shows at the top that blocks the ability to do stuff.

The staff on the ship was wonderful. The wifi and app that functions only with wifi was spotty at best. They charge per person not room or family pricing. Like anything on the ship the wifi is ridiculously overpriced. Not user friendly to use the app. Some communication was more efficient but still overall not a pleasant experience with the app.

Great concept, poorly executed. 1. Lack of audible message notifications 2. Inconsistent reliability when switching between purchased wifi package and on board free wifi. 3. Content navigation needs to be revisited - not intuitive as to where to find information. Have to spend too much time hunting in different sections for info.

It looks nice, but functionally it is a huge mess. When on the ships WiFi, some pages wouldn't load the activities, dining, for days. Excursion details were way too limited and also wouldn't load many days. Ship deck maps never loaded the entire trip. Need serious fixes before a decent review. This is the main communication hub to your customers, needs serious fixes.

I would leave a half star if I could. This app is not user-friendly at all. Does not work well with ship wifi and does not have all the features of the cruise compass built in it. You have to constantly turn off and on the wifi to get your messages to go through. If they are going to have you use an app for the compass, then everything in the paper compass should be built in the app especially for the people who do not pay for internet and cannot look up those things.

I was able to plan excursions fine for my cruise in July. The only way to start check-in and get a boarding time is through the app though. Tapping on the start check-in button shows a white screen with the RC logo and doesn't continue. It just hangs on that logo and I have to kill the app. The website doesn't have check-in functionality as it directs you to the app to do it. Will increase rating when this gets fixed.

Glitchy. Some meals the MDR menu shows up, some it doesn't. Some meals the menu shows on one phone but not the other 4 or some other mixture. Menus should come with food allergy assessments for EVERYTHING that might be served there. Even better would be one of the apps some other cruise line has, but it should be IN the RCL app. Those with allergies would know what was safe, able to be modified to be safe, and unsafe, all before they have set foot on the ship. .....more.....

Essential for cruising on RC. Deck maps, of course. But also free chat with other guests onboard - we had no Internet package but chat still worked. Also, chatted with guest services to resolve a problem instead of standing in a long line. And it had a calendar of events going on, review photo and photo packages, book excursions... Everything worked perfectly. There was one hiccup during check-in on the app, but still top notch

Overall very good, useful app, with deck and Coco Cay maps, up-to-date schedules, etc. My only complaints are: 1) It doesn't send notifications reliably for chat messages and when it does, they are not audible. This is important because it's the only way your companions can contact you if you don't buy the internet package (not worth it just for that). 2) You can't add appointments purchased onboard, like spa treatments, to your calendar in the app. Fix those and it's 5 stars.

I appreciated the listings of activities, reminders of activities we saved, being able to see photos, menus, hours, etc. I like the concept of being able to message other guests (family that is with us), but most of the time, it didn't work well. We wouldn't get the message, wouldn't get the alert, or get the message hours later or even the next day. Good idea, just didn't work. The app didn't update with time properly or let me save activities until it was closed and reopened sometimes.

The app is great. Works best when you're in airplane mode and your phone is connected to the ships wifi. On our recent cruise, some of the activities as well as dining attire, the app didn't match the paper cruise planner. Also, texting through the app is a nice feature for those who don't want to buy the wifi package. However, the app won't notify you when there is a message.
