Marginal capabilities at best. Without this add-on app (in addition to the required app), the printer is useless, because Canon didn't include any way to adjust the image for printing, so invariably tops of heads are sliced off during printing, even if it looks OK prior printing. Hey CANON! What happened to WYSIWYG?

No matter how many cool features and options, this app is completely useless because it does not give you access to your pictures in select/custom folders. It can only access one folder which appears to be the camera folder or possibly it is throwing all pictures on my phone in one folder. I have 15.000 pictures on my phone. You do the match how long it would take me scrolling to print a few select pictures. Why is this Canon app not capable of the most important picture app feature ???

Now with the most recent update when I open the only location of photos on my phone, "smartphone" it has every photo as it's own folder, so now I can no longer see each image of each photo. It used to show the images in a grid form, easy to find what you want. This folder nonsense makes it impossible to find the specific picture I want to print. Pretty much makes this app and therefore the printer unusable. Please revert back to the old version.

The app doesn't work for me. I can't print through the app and it kept giving me connection errors. Printing through wifi works but what's the point of the app if I can't use it? 😔 Edit: I finally got it to work after some troubleshooting. I had to turn off my ad blocker on my phone and then it was finally able to connect through the app. The new version of the app also has less features so they need to bring back n-up

Two comments: the app requires precise location access to work AT ALL. I have no idea what it's actually using it for since the printer it's connecting to obviously has no location sensors. They say the data is not being collected but there's no way I can trust that. Also if you have MacAfee Security installed it may interfere with the WiFi connection to the printer (since this app aparently can't talk to the printer through a wireless router) unless you turn it off. That was fun to figure out.

Pretty terrible interface. Menu buttons are lacking. Hidden trim/crop. App will not read external sd cards, only phone memory. So I have to transfer pics from external sd card to phone for app to even see it. No option to scan entire memory, have to select individual folders. Interface just sucks and needs a complete redo. I can't believe Canon, a leading printer company, made this trash.

This update is not good. With my current project, I cannot connect to Google photos. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app with no success. Also the collage aspect has been a downgrade. Have been using the 2 and 4 picture collage and with this update it will take forever. Will not be using this app/printer until this is fixed or reverted back to the old app. Not user friendly.

We bought this to make it easy to print out photos on the fly. It is so easy. It comes with a few 4 x 6 gloss pieces of photo paper and enough ink to print. You'll need to order more right away. The instructions for printing can use more explanation. you need to open the print cassette all the way and place the photo paper in cassette (glossy side up). Do not close the cassette. Open the front panel and gently slide the smaller end into the printer. It will say "Busy". Click OK on the check.

Bring back the n-up options please!!! Used to think this was 5 stars, since recent update it's awful and now hate it! I can no longer choose 2 or 4 photos to a page and set multiple at a time to print, and it no longer auto rotates the pictures to the right orientation in collage mode. Please bring back the original features, the new app is terrible!!!

I bought the cp1500 a few days ago and downloaded the app, after reading the reviews I decided to download the older 3.1.1 version I found online to see what the commotion was about (It still connects and prints and everything). Oh my gosh! They got rid of so many features! Why?? It connects to Google print, it has N-up layout and different editing choices! 4.0.10 is definitely a downgrade.

The new update is the worst. I usually print 4 per page but my photos are a different ratio than the paper, so I select fit on each photo, and cut off the white excess later. In the new update the "fit" option CUTS OFF parts of my photo. I don't need it to almost fit, I need it to actually fit. Also if I try to manually zoom it out, the photo rotates!!! it's impossible to layout exactly without chunks of my photos being cut off or them being the same size. This is ridiculous.

I absolutely LOVE this printer, but HATE THE NEWEST app UPDATE!!! I used to be able to upload several pics and it would print them one right after another - nowi have to do them one at a time - VERY TIME CONSUMING! I use the Collage feature and the "fill/fit" feature has changed, and now I HAVE TO EDIT EVERY PICTURE before I print it. I SPEND SO MUCH MORE TIME with this NEWEST app version versus the previous one. PLEASE FIX THESE ISSUES!!!!!!

Not a huge fan of the update. Please remove or create the option to remove the dark frame around the ID picture. (This option is available in the collage layout) I was able to create additional sizing of ID pictures and now it is not an option with the dark framing as it cuts into/cuts off the photo. Can additional sizing for ID photos also be an option for future updates? Such as 2x3 or 3x3. Much appreciated.

Horrible update. I used to be able to print batches of pictures with 2 or 4 to a sheet and now it's all collage or one size. I can no longer do 2 or 4 to a page without it making a collage. Bring back the N-Up feature. Without it, it will take ages to print 2 pics to a sheet for more than just 2 pictures at a time. Losing the N-Up feature is a game changer for how I use my printer. Will be looking for a new printer with an app I can use. Sad, because this is a really great little printer.

You really, really took this app back 10 steps by removing the bookmark function. That was one of the best things about the app. I gave my elder relatives bookmarks as gifts and they loved them. Why on earth would you have done this? Sure, I can design something in a 3rd party app and save it as a 4x6 sized image, import and print. But most people likely lack that ability. You had a nice little software package in which you downgraded drastically. PLEASE bring the postcard option back!

Why would you remove Google pictures from the web services.... why? I wish I had never updated my app, with ever app update we lose functionality. I used to be able to print over 60 photos at once and pick what layout I wanted. now I have to do 2 or 3 or 6 photos at a time bc if not it forces specific layout...Bring back the original app.

How does a printing application not have the ability to share photos to it??? It's so much work to use my NAS's photo app to get a photo printed. Every other app I can simply share the photo to, please please please add this tiny extremely easy feature.... Update the inability to share is such a shame, lowering to 1 star. If I knew this before I wouldn't have bought this printer.
