Dangerous app, beware! There are some stations that this app will work with (like FPL ones) where the app has the ability to start charging but no ability to stop it. If the stations touch screen is not working ....which happened to me... there is no way to stop the charge. When you try to stop the charge through the app it says stopping is not available for this station. Why in heaven's Earth would you allow this app to start a station without the ability to stop it????

Literally can't start the app without having location enabled (it automatically shuts off after giving a notice). You really don't need my data that badly, it's just convenience, fix it. Tried to sign up online and it kept rejecting my passwords for not having special characters (apparently an underscore doesn't count). Still trying to get a membership to use with My Kia Chargeup account, the only reason I'm still here.

Doesn't have anything at the charging station to say this is the app you need to download, it has two completely different brand names, I had to Google it!. Once downloaded you can't just pay for the charge amount, you have to "load" the app with a minimum of $10, SO annoying, why can't I just pay for what I charge like other charging stations? And the worst part? It has an option to automatically reload when you are below $5 and when you turn off this option it does it anyway. Everything AWFUL!

Clunky. Usually have to stand around relogging in while i was hoping just to plug in and go. Then after I log in I have to navigate back to the station. Very rare that i don't have to type in the station ID instead of the QR code. When nothing goes wrong, it's ok, but the clunkiness of how it deals with hiccups shows the devs haven't thought through all the paths. But i have no choice but to use this app sometimes-- though that is changing rapidly with more and more chargers out there.

edit: about two years later and this is still happening. I have lowered my rating to 1 star. The app looks nice and mostly works well. However, it automatically logs me out on some random interval. Seriously, guys, use better login management strategies. Give me the option to use a fingerprint if you're so concerned about security. Even my bank app doesn't force me to manually login every time I want to use it.

Shell evidently absorbed another company's charge network and the software wasn't updated, after 1/2 hr trying to get the credit card to work I had to add a new card to their app to try it instead. I was frustrated, in the sunlight, and couldn't see the screen well. Their app defaults to taking $200 dollars off your credit card and holds it until you use it up. I immediately called and asked for a refund but none has come. I was traveling and have no shell chargers near my home. Beware.

I just bought a Nissan Leaf and was interested in charging it at the local Shell Recharge station. Couldn't get the app downloaded, so I went back home to try with my wifi connected. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. It just endlessly says "uploading offline maps for your convenience", and then closes. Three calls to customer support. Can't pay with a credit card. They let me connect for free. Don't understand why you can't pay with a credit card.

Didn't work a majority of the time. This is obviously a web app. The user experience really sucks. I tried using the app 12 times. Only two times succeeded. Two started then stopped. The rest absolutely failed to initiate the charge. You have to call their support to get them to initiate the charge remotely. When you scan a qr code on a charger, it doesn't open the charger page to start. It opens a location with multiple station IDs and connector IDs. QR code is useless.

The application won't connect to the EV station we located. I tried installing it on two devices and it took me a half hour and multiple attempts to get it connected. Finally when I'm connected, it says it will take over 9 hours to charge the car to full. I mean it's electric so I get it, but I didn't expect that long. When the app responds it works well enough, but it keeps timing out.

This was a very good app, then they updated and it's not as nearly as efficient and before. My credit card got frozen I'm the app, I can't use it, can't remove it. Also, once you close the app while charging, good luck getting back to charging status. The charging station locator just doesn't work. For me it's stuck in Africa... Quite far from Hawai'i. It's a very slow app as well, I'm using Samsung S10/Android, everything else works like a charm. Got timeout some 3 times in the last 5 minutes.

Downloading the app and starting a session was fine. I think the design is smart and helps prevent damage to the charger. However, it's been 4 hours since I last disconnected and ended the session and the app thinks I'm still connected even tho it stopped charging me for time. The app won't allow me to "stop" the session by pressing the stop button on the app which is now effecting my ability to connect to a new station.

It's a pretty bad app, and their charging stations are wayyyy too complicated. On the other hand, I did use it a couple of times and it worked pretty well once I figured out some quirks. Like, you have to be parked EXACTLY in the right spot or the cord won't reach; it's quite short. And if you fuss with it too much, it thinks you're done and retracts. But there are a couple of stations that are convenient for me and I want to use them, so I will keep trying. The map page is nigh useless. It takes forever to load. I was looking for an online map so that I can plan a drive on my computer since the app is not useful, but I can't find one.

I've spent 45 minutes installing and un-installing Greenlots on my Android Moto G7. 10 minutes of that was with there phone support. When I open the app, it states it's downloading the offline maps. Then it pops up a window and everything disappears. I open the app again, and while it's hourglassing the maps info, I can click on the three lines, and see that I'm logged in to my account. Then the maps install fails again. I am uninstalling it on my phone. The web version works fine on my laptop. Just fyi to all.

Easily the most error prone, cumbersome, and counter-intuitive EV charging network I've used in over three years of EV ownership. Stations are frequently down, app has difficulty connecting, and just getting a charging session started - in the best case scenario when it's working how it's designed - is a convoluted series of steps that must be done in exactly the right order. Shell has no future in EV charging, and property managers should look into chargepoint, blink, or anything else.

App works very well when it works, not always the most consistent experience. The two biggest problems are actually getting the charger to respond to app inputs, and the app staying connected to the charger. It's really annoying when the app just drops connection so you can't see your progress and especially stop the charge if you need to go. Also they really push their wallet option to get people to pay up front for charging credits that don't save you anything, scummy way to make money

Update: My issues have since been solved with the latest series of patches. The app now runs pretty smoothly and functions properly. I'm satisfied with the app, overall. Thanks for the support. Consistently gives the http 401 error on my Razer Phone 2. Can't even check the status of my charging session, let alone initiate a new one. Customer service does not seem to be able to help. This never happened with the old app.

The worst charge stations and app ever! They randomly stop charging and sometimes don't even notify you. If i could give them 0 stars, I would! There are 8 stations at my work and I always have to check my car visually because they randomly stop working. Avoid them as much as you possibly can, even if that means a short walk! Yes, they are that bad!

It used to be slow, but now it's showing the charges as busy when they're not even in use. The map overlay no longer shows charging stations even though the map itself is pulling info from Google maps that shows the charging station is there. You have to scan the qr code or enter the station ID. But they still show busy after taking forever to load

The app is unable to start a charging session at Shell Recharge stations. At one level 2 charger, it gets stuck at "Authorizing" and the station never seems to respond. At another CCS charger, the first time, I got a charge equipment error, and retrying, I got a "Card authorization failed". Fortunately, I was able to use the Chargepoint app (with the same card at the same station) to start charging. Instructions on whether to plug in vs authorize first are also unclear.

Tried to create an account, but the password apparently must be either 8 OR 64 characters according to the displayed error, but it also seems to only display that error no matter what hidden rule you ciolate so who knows. App also just crashes when attempting to login, so its just unusable. Update I suspect their email validation is broken, created a second account with just a change of email address and it stopped crashing.
