You register, choose password and enter credit card info. Japanese credit card, that is. So far so good. Even the card was accepted and my bank sent me confirmation. All OK. You enter Suica number - it accepts it, then errors out and logs you out. Next time you wanna login, it says your ID was suspended and you have to call a number to sort it out. So even the initial experience is terrible. Not to mention the privacy policy stated here in Google Play.

I'm not sure about if this is the real app and that it can be trusted, the app wanted my name, my adresse, date of birth, phone number, email, and specially my credit card number & security code to be able to create an account, I went to the website and registered there without them asking foe a credit card. This app seems sketchy, go to the website instead, also reserve your seat a day in advance. The website tends to go down for maintenance for a quite good amount of time before midnight.

Same as other reviews. You need a bank with a card that has adoptrd 3D Secure. That is an extra authorization system/step where you will get a confirmation on your phone when you make a purchase. Both my cards work with 3D Secure and I have used them extensively. My purchase failed and I read a message saying to try another card. When trying my other card, I was logged out and told my account was suspended. I was able to get my tickets on Klook instead.

Just as others have said, registration doesn't work properly - it rejects every credit card, even ones that I've used countless times all over Japan. Pretty pathetic.

Dogshit app. Has me restart the sign up process when it cant authenticate my CC even though it could just ask me to re type just the CC info. Doesnt matter tho because it cant authenticate any of my CC's which is just dumb. I literally made a puchase 5 minutes ago.

Worked smooth for a while, but now when I try to login it won't let me even though I know the password is correct. It doesn't even let me reset my password, in both cases I just get a non-sensical "Please use the application you used for the Membership registration". Edit: turns out, you cannot use the English version if your registered with the Japanese app, and viceversa. You need two different accounts. I'm baffled at this stupidity.

Come on folks. This service worked last year. You have stuffed up something with your credit card verification and now it appears that foreigners can't register credit cards. I've tried two different cards, spoken to Visa international and my bank. They all agree it's your problem. Please sort this out, clearly lots of people are trying to by shinkansen tickets and can't at the moment.

Unable to register for new user, not even in app nor website. Keep on saying it's under system maintenance even it's not on the scheduled maintenance date stated in the website. For the website, it'll link you to an unauthorized page. This is frustrating and unacceptable.

No credit or debit cards ever work to pay for tickets on the app or the website. Their "validation" site always fails no matter what credit/debit card is used. No wonder Klook will charge you an extra 50k yen just to do the same thing... When the official channel doesn't work, the intermediaries have a field day!

App does not work, it is unable to perform authentication of any debit/credit cards. It is incredibly clunky too. *Update* it can now authenticate cards, but it can't authorise payments. Works first time on the web but the app is still completely broken.

Completely useless. No credit or debit card I try is able to be registered, and I have tried three different cards. Can't even make an account without a card attached. I'll just end up getting my tickets in person, this app and the website both have issues with all my cards which is apparently a common problem.

App does nothing if you don't have an account, and it won't let me register an account (a credit card is required and maybe US credit cards are not accepted? It doesn't tell you what went wrong, exactly, just that there was an error). And when the registration fails, it makes you start over AT THE VERY BEGINNING. Why can't it keep my previous inputs? Absolutely useless, no feedback, no way to know what went wrong or why, just go until error and then back to the beginning.

Extremely difficult to register in the app. Went through 4 different credit cards before i found one i could use. The problem is the app, as none of my cards issued a fraud alert. While in Japan, the app does NOT WORK during busy periods. So EVEN IF you manage to book seats, you might not be able to pull them up on your phone when its time to board, AND they warn you explicitly not to take screenshots of the QR codes as they might not work later on. GARBAGE APP AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Don't waste your time. The app won't let you register the credit card needed to use the app. I've booked many Japan hotels, tours, other trains, etc over the last couple of months, never had a credit card authorization problem anyplace else. I've spoken to Smart EX reps real time, there's no acknowledgement that they have a problem and certainly no help trying to fix the issue. Many Shinkansen routes can be booked on Klook for a fee. At least Klook works.

DO NOT USE THIS APP. book your tickets in person. This app is very buggy and will randomly lock out your account. This happened to me. I purchased tickets successfully. When I went to assign IC cards, the app crashed and locked out my account. I wasn't able to retrieve my tickets. The folks at the counter weren't able to figure it out. I lost 223 dollars on this app.

Don't use this app, it's dangerous. I signed up, selected my tickets, and then left the app without purchasing. When I tried logging in later to purchase my tickets again, my account was locked. I called the soecified phone number to try to get my account unlocked, and they told me that they can't unlock overseas accounts. They have to wait for the system to unlock the account and notify me by closing my account. Absolutely useless and foreigner unfriendly.
