Great, my favorite recording app to use for songwriting because it makes it easy to save with (or without) a name and start a new recording. I keep myself to the rule that if I don't give something a name, it's something to delete. I wish it could output mp3s though, dealing with wav files on a mobile device is a pain cause transfer is so slow.

As an artist - who consistently writes new poems/literature and songs, daily; this application has been perfect for me as my PRIMARY go to. I have utilized this specific) application for last three plus years. It's great for when I'm on the go; especially when I want to remember the way I wanted certain things to sound and/or said, in my various songs, such as tone of voice, melodies and voice inflections, etc.

I use app to record interviews and government meetings. It works pretty well, though it would be better if the audio files could be uploaded automatically to the cloud, like sound cloud app does. I do like the simplicity of function, and haven't had any bug issues with it yet (have been using it only a few days). I use it on an android platform with a Motorola Moto.

This is a great recorder app. It's easy to use, picks up all the surrounding sounds far better than expected & takes up little storage on my phone. The recordings can be sizeable, depending on length. The app is so perfectly simple & works flawlessly. It'd be nice to be able to record or save the recordings at a smaller size, even if quality is compromised. I've used this app to record the coyotes howling in the mountains around me at night. It's amazing how much it captures. I highly recommend!

Honestly? The most solid app I've found for recording. The interface is simple, there's a good amount of audio quality options, and it's easy to find the files when you're moving them between phone/laptop/etc. It's simple and reliable, and that's all I really needed! The only thing I'd suggest is finding a way to output audio in something other than .wav, like MP3s or something, but that really isn't a huge deal (and maybe I'm just missing where I'd find that!)

New version is bad. Simply put i have been a faithful user for years. It helped me in gathering evidence. Recording calls. It was a reliable app. Now it stops recording on its own if you go to another program. Or are doing something else. The whole interphase is different and prone to stopping your recording easier or messing up. The point is i depended on this program to record properly when i need it for phone conversations or people ones. It does not work like the old versions. Bad changes.

I'm sure it can do plenty more than what I've used, so far, but one thing I really like is it allows you to pause and resume. With some other apps, once you stop recording, that's it, no continuing. I'd like it to pause all other media when i record. I'd also like it to STAY paused until I decide I'm finished recording, and want to save a recording.

Records wav files that I can email all from within the app. So great and makes my life easier. Edit Oct. 2020: I can't believe I have been using this app for four years. I rely on it to make recordings during a lesson and send them to my students in seconds. Someone else said in a review that the recording skips. That only happens when my phone is getting low on memory and starts running slow in general. I use a cleaner to free up ram and boost performance.

This has been my go to app for voice notes for many years. Across several devices, this has always worked for me. But today, as I am writing this, it has crashed at the end of a half hour recording. During this recording I let my screen go blank, my device lock, I switched apps to look at something else, and I lost cell service intermittently. This has never been a problem until this one time, but it was enough to shake my trust. A recording app must be very, very reliable. Otherwise 5 stars.

This app is very simple and easy to use. You just select one button to start or stop the recording and it even has a feature where it'll pause recording if there is no sound. That's great for extending recordings, that way you are only recording if there is something to record. I highly recommend this app.

my favorite recording app by far!! I tried a bunch, including at least one that I paid for. Smart Voice Recorder remains the best. My *one* tiny issue is that when you are making a recording, the buttons for 'Save' and 'Cancel' should be further apart, so I don't accidentally brush against my screen in the wrong way and delete an hour-long recording I was in the middle of making. This is a small issue, and it has never actually happened in my time using the app.

Fantastic app. It's capable of sounding great if you go into the settings and turn the quality up (resulting in large file sizes), or you can sacrifice some quality with lower settings to save space on your device. My phone's microphone sucks, so I also used the settings to make it a bit more sensitive. So now it can pick up sounds that used to be too quiet. Though beware, if you later use it in a situation with much louder sounds, it may result in clipping/distortion. If in doubt, leave on Auto

Seems like it attempts to record but it you would have to be screaming at the top of your lungs as with the other party to hear anything, even then I wouldn't imagine you would hear anything. I've tried this all morning, it just doesn't work. The app's broken, don't waste your time on this app if you need a recording, you can't hear anything that was recorded and doesn't matter how long you leave it recording, it just stops. I'm watching my phone, says recording but the recorder doesn't work

It was great for almost a decade, but recently, it's started prematurely ending recordings while running in the background. Not sure if it's happening because of incoming calls interrupting it and making it glitch out, but it's happened enough that I can't rely on this app anymore. It has gotten me out of so many bad situations, I really have a trauma bond with this app and don't want to let it go. I'm going to wait, just in case it gets fixed. But, please, update it soon. People depend on this.

Been using it for years and it does the trick. Optimal solution for me. Local recording (ie private), free and also simple and effective for note taking and even meeting audio capture (don't expect high quality sound from your phones microphone, but maybe you'll get lucky) Secret audio recordings.. huh? Yea? I'll be honest I've used it for that. Hit record, put in pocket or on the table, and save the conversation. It wasn't for nefarious purposes, come on now. Thanks to those who made this app!

Very good recorder. I have used it to record live music sessions/rehearsals, it is very easy to set up with preferred file format, and volume adjustment. Highly recommended for musicians who want to push the button and then forget it. Not bad for carrying into concerts in your pocket. Edit 1/24/14. I wear hearing aids, and I can use a metronome app as a click track, hearing it thru hearing aids via bluetooth - and record a song to the click without it being on the recording. ☆☆☆☆☆

To whom it may concern: 1) Unlike a lot of the other voice recording apps, this one will use your earbuds speakers for the recording. A lot of other voice recording apps would only use my phones microphone, and there was no way to change it to my earbud. This app naturally uses my earbuds microphone, and I love it. 2) This app will record while you use other apps like Spotify, for example, so if you wanted to say sing along to a song and check how terrible/great your own singing is, you can.

I love this app so much; Because it's SIMPLY, FAST to OPEN and USE, when you need it (to document anything happening: positive, neutral or negative, around you). It's so useful; that I have the App's. Icon on EVERY one of my home screens… in the exact SAME POSITION (so I can open it VERY QUICKLY) to document ANYTHING That needs to be. It's simple enough to use; but also has enough features, to make it meet your specific needs.

I tried many different recording apps on the Google Play Store and was always dissatisfied by their features and performance. Then I found smart voice recorder and have been using the app for nearly 10 years. My personal opinion is smart voice recorder is the best voice recording app on the Google Play Store par none. Give it a test drive and see for yourself. Once you test drive smart voice recorder you will never go back to using another voice recording app.

I've been using this app for years, by far the best recording app i've ever used. I'm a musician/audio engineer professionally, and this is the best way to quickly record an idea to work on later, record some cool sounds while you're out and about, or even capture the moment in a jam session/show. You can choose the sample rate too which is a big plus (higher or lower quality recordings depending on your needs). Fantastic app. All i could ask for is auto-sync to google drive.
