Doesn't seem to work at all on my Samsung phone. After first download, the app wouldn't even remain open after selecting the language preference. Tried another couple of times to re-install and at least got beyond that, but it then crashed as soon as I opened the Search and tried to type anything at all there. V frustrating. Will try on iPad...

I can't register, I just get an error message, Something went wrong. I've tried resetting, and clicked the link in the email but that didn't work either. The first page says to fill in the email/ password to log in or register. But one or both generate the error message. And as a guest, I can't seem to get anything from the scan facility. It scans but then... nothing. No idea where the scans go or how I can get any information on them.

Used the app for the Ray Harryhausen Exhibition at Edinburgh's Modern Two gallery. It did not disappoint and provided a great deal of information to compliment the exhibits. The audio could do with a wee tweak as John Landis' introduction was barely audible. Scanning was quick and easy with tons of info on hand. I'll definitely be using the app again when I visit another exhibition

Couldn't get it to work. Went to the scan screen and it just wouldn't scan by itself, no obvious scan button, then when I tapped the screen on the scan box it locked up. On Samsung Galaxy S22+. Then I read more and find it will only work for art in specific museums that have signed up. It won't help identify signatures on other art which is what I thought it was supposed to do. So not fit for my purpose AND I couldn't get it to even scan at all anyway.

I thought the app was broken as it only contains the welcome screens with no way of progressing beyond them. Eventually after some weeks I stumbled across the fact that you have to swipe up to see a registration page to get into the app. So the start needs changing with a chevron or something to show there is another screen below, because as written it looks like you are meant to just keep scrolling right and if so nothing happens. Or put the registration page as the last right scrolled page.

I love this app. Every night, I read about a different painting and then check to see what the write-up is on this app has to say about it. The photos are better than those in the guide books I brought in the various museums I have visited. Smartify is versatile in that there are many different ways to use it. I just wish I could further enlarge the art reproductions.

Fantastic app - like attending a gallery from your armchair. Now allows you to do a text search to find what you are interested in. Good quality representations of beautiful art. It would be even better if you could look at a gallery or artist's collection in slide show mode or by simply swiping sideways, rather than having to go in and out of each picture from the thumbnail overview. Currently swiping left brings up artist info. Also an optional home screen other than scanner, for 5 stars.

Disappointed. I was hoping to recommend it to my students for art history, so I thought I'd test it. I don't think the app is ready for use because it doesn't have data on a wide range of subjects. Sadly the app is yet to add a huge spectrum of artworks outside the Phenomenon of Western art. I tried to scan images from books and prints to test it and the app couldn't find matches. The idea of scanning artworks only at museums with actual specimens is very surfacial and caters to consumers who are probably techies or techno-geeks who want another feature on their gadgets. If at all it does help, then it probably focuses on users in the Europe and the US where most of the artworks featured on the app are housed. Scanning an artwork at a museum hardly helps because most of the artworks at a museum would have a clear identity at a museum and one can easily find data about those on the net. Will not be recommending the app until it doesn't improve and expand its content. Once achieved the would enable the app to become a crucial source for studying art.

I downloaded it looking to find a painting. I tried scanning it but it would take ours so I closed and reopened the app. When I tried using the scanner again tho it was lagging so hard it became annoying so I closed and reopened it to find oud it wouldn't work at all, just show me a full black screen saying it was scanning lol. Anyway overall the layout was pretty, it had some interesting/famous painting in display for easy access to 'the popular ones'

Brilliant way to obtain information. You can stop and start or repeat the recording as many times as you like!

Works great and has more details then the gallery. But one shortcoming is that while you can zoom in on the paintings, you can't pan. Which means it is fairly useless unless your intent is to zoom in to the center of the painting. Fix this for 5 stars!

I have used this successfully in the past, but in the latest version the scan feature is broken for me and for many others as well it seems. Edit: Fixed!

After updating, all of my scans disappeared, but they were quickly restored (within 24 hours) after emailing the developer. My scans are now easier to find than before. I give four stars rather than 5 because I preferred the black app with white writing (the white background gets lost on my screen). But overall, it's a nice improvement!

I recently changed my Echo Show wallpaper to fine art. The Echo's range is extraordinary - it's an almost 5-star experience - with one glaring exception: it doesn't tell you who painted what you're looking at. So the loveliest paintings flicking through my wallpaper rotation went undocumented until this wonderful thing happened: SMARTIFY! It doesn't recognize everything, even some pieces that are quite old, but they're building their database. In the meantime, when it works, it works a dream!

Absolutely useless. Downloaded it to try and identify a painting. Not only is the scan box set unchangeably as a square the pinch and zoom seems to have two preset distances only. And when I finally gave up getting it sized right and just hit scan after framing as best as I could, it just sat there for minutes. I tried multiple times. Then promptly uninstalled. Also requires you to give an email to access. Glad I gave my junk one.

I didn't even get to use it! Upon opening it let me type in my email and a password to create account, but the next page asks for your first name and last name. I typed it in, hit continue and both first and last name boxes highlighted red and said these fields are required. Ummm. My name is typed in there. So I deleted and retried 2 more times, and got the same error. There is no help or anything on that page, so I uninstalled the app! Thank you for nothing!
