Has its issues such as sometimes being awfully slow or giving you a message about your achievements 4 times in a row although you already want to move on with learning. It also has those weird conversational bits where in the end it will ask you whether it was easy or hard to do and regardless of the choice, it will give you meaningless options (proceed or do the same thing again) but leaving technical issues etc aside, I guess it does its job. Have only tried it for 1.5 weeks though.

I saw amazing reviews from youtubers and thought I would give this app a try. I'm sure it's a great and effective tool;but I can't even open the app. I've tried making an account several times and as soon as I input my email and start the app,I get the error message like "there's a problem on our end🙈" I'm not sure if it's an issue with my email info or my device but it is a bit discouraging.

Love the app and methodology but it is a little buggy. I have to hit a Retry button often. Not a showstopper though. I would also like to be able to use other music services more easily. Unlike many language apps, Speakly puts a lot more time into being able to hear the language. That is a big help.

Very good but still getting there! Already, It's much more detailed than Duolingo and has more features that make rules and patterns more defined. My only grife (after 45-ish minutes of use) is that once, after typing out a sentence that I listened to during a placemetlnt test, there was no move on function and I had to restat. Thankfully this has only happened once.

This app is incredible. I was frustrated with Duolingo, so I went looking for a new one, and found this. I'm 1½ months into French, and I've gotten a lot further than I expected! I do already speak Spanish and Portuguese though. The method used is super intuitive and not frustrating, so I'd recommend this to people learning their second language. Only complaint is the lack of available languages. Add Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese, and this will be the ultimate newbie resource!

Speakly is a great system. The UI is nice. The way it teaches is nice. I've been using it for over a year. But recently I keep getting the error "There's something wrong on our end" almost every question. Then i have to click retry multiple times to get it to load. Doesn't matter what network I'm on. Or if I'm on mobile data. Something they updated in the past month or so, probably the April 26 update, has broken things and it's sad because the app is good

I tried Finnish. Word choice seems strong and the demonstration voices are high quality and easy to understand. The learning pace for the free version is unbearably slow, so this app is probably best if you are able to pay for premium. I won't be doing that, however, because the method has this very confusing approach wherein they introduce new words in sentences full of words that haven't been introduced and remain unexplained and untranslated. It's VERY confusing.

Wow! I love this app, it is great! One thing I appreciate most is that it doesn't lock you out of advance or intermediate levels. You can take the placement and if you don't like your lvl you were placed at you can simply pick a new one. I am notorious for misplacing prepositions and misgendering words. So in other apps I always fail their placement tests having to go back and relearn 67% of my current vocabulary just to progress to next lvl. This app let's you pick your lvl and that I like! 🥰

Switched from Duolingo to Speakly and I must say I'm quite satisfied with the amount of input I get through Speakly compared to any other app I've seen. Even when learning new words or phrases, it's almost always in the context of a sentence, and I get exposure to other words in that sentence through it. Also, as a front end developer myself, I can't help but remark on the beautiful user interface this app has to offer. It's far beyond what's offered in most other apps like it. I tip my hat. 🎩

Overall, I really enjoy Speakly approach on learning a language compared to others I have tried (i.e. Memrise & Duolingo) as well as investigated others. Speakly teaches relevant words (so they are commonly used). The "listening exercises" are amazing as you can read as well as hear, and if needed read in your original language. This is the best feature that I find very helpful, as I do these exercises every day! The "live situations" where you speak into the phone is a neat feature.

I am considering spending money on this app. It does a good job in its approach - sentence context focused, common things first, learning speaking, listening, reading, etc. However there is one thing that is really lacking: the review system. Its very simplistic as it is honor system flash cards. Very unlike the rest of the app, not interactive, not using any space repetition system, etc.

This is THE best language app I've found. I've been using Speakly for 2 years now, and have made excellent progress with French. It incorporates grammar, vocabulary, and speaking (excellent voice recognition) into the daily study. Other modules provide interactive conversation practice, and listening exercises with transcription. All listening and conversation are native speakers. Most of the vocabulary does as well. This really is a COMPLETE language learning app.

This is a great app in concept. It's well-designed, it's scientific, etc. Two problems: It's boring and limited. Once you choose your language, there is no going back. You cannot even delete your account to reset the profile. As a polyglot, I would really appreciate it if I could study multiple languages in one app, and that is always something I am searching for. Truly a pity. If they can get over that second, which is the main issue, then I would love to recommend this app. Sadly, it lacks.

The app is mostly good except the constant bugs. I have to hit retry so many times when it fails to complete something, it triples the time it takes me to reach my goals. It's so bad I'm doing the bare minimum. They continuously say they're fixing the problem, but it's been months. How does the same issue keep coming back, and why is it taking so long to fix? It makes me feel like they don't have developers or something, just contractors that are dropping the ball...

Ends of words are not always heard, why are they cut off? Harder to understand. Also, repeatly get message that something went wrong on our end, please try again. Gets tiresome, tried reloading the app, did not help. The problem with something going wrong appears to have been corrected. Thank-you.

The listening exercises are the best part. I listen to them on loop mode while I'm driving, and I love that I can choose to see paragraph-by-paragraph translations. Unfortunately the program is set up to only unlock the next listening exercise each time you pass off 50 new words. I learn more words from listening than drilling so I feel like I'm being artificially held back. I think as a paying customer I should be able to access everything from the get-go and move at my own pace.

It's a good app. The voices are natural and sound good. The Spanish is European Spanish. If you are learning Latin American Spanish, it will be different but not a deal breaker. The voice processing engine has issues with processing. Sometimes, it takes dozens of times to get past an exercise. It flags different words at the same set of attempts. It definitely has issues with ambient noise. I've also had it reset my streak incorrectly a few times. I don't know why it didn't count.

Tried to return after some updates and realized that the UX became more awful than before. Now I need to do much more clicks to reveal the answer. Accidentally clicked on 30 min skip because the button appeared just over another. And it's still impossible to postpone hard card to next hour or day or so, the app just displaying only hard cards repeatedly now. Absolutely useless and annoying.

I absolutely love the app itself but I'm super disappointed because the speech recognition often doesn't recognize ANYTHING! I keep speaking LOUDLY and clearly and it hanging on analyzing and I end up having to click on I know this to progress forward. Please work on the speech recognition and things will be great. Additionally, I wish we could move ahead if we choose to & not have so much locked.

I think the app is actually pretty good. The voices sound good, a bit slow but still clear. The layout is clean with little clutter. The main issue is 95% of the content is premium. The daily vocabulary (free) is about 3 minutes of material, after that you must pay, or wait until tomorrow. One part of the daily free vocabulary is recording which is a premium feature so you cannot actually do all the free lessons. Good app, but forces you to actually pay to utilizes the app in any sense or form.
