It was interesting but frustrating. Way too hard, but I actually wanted to perfect the game and after dozens of restarts I have managed to win every single fight...

I like the story, LOVED the humor(the hood talk is kinda cringy maybe you coulda asked someone who actually uses it about how to use it) Id def like to see another gritty story like this but the stat system is kinda all over the place espically at the beginning of the story you guys def took the easter eggs TOO FAR & the some of the endings are ASS it said something about cheating & paying off cops fix this plz

I'll address the elephant in the room. Most of the negative reviews are because of how Hosted Games chose to market this game. It has so much more of a tongue-in-cheek approach to an almost fighting anime vibe. It took me a bit to adjust my expectations for a gritty mood. Overall, I think it's wildly entertaining, and I laughed a number of times. I don't often feel like I can't predict exactly what's through the next door. So, if you can imagine a title graphic that looks more like Bleach and expect more speeding fight special effects than gritty street murders, you won't be disappointed. Give it a shot.

Not the game described. It's a nonsensical humor game that trolls the player. It describes itself as a dirty, gritty street fighting story, but it involves supernatural and paranormal elements, lofty humor that undermine the set up. Really disappointed and wish I could get a refund.

Really the most unique and out there COG/HG I've ever seen. Shame people are still getting triggered lol it clearly gives you the warnings beforehand. But yeah this is a video game more than a novel and that's what makes it so unique to me, plus the author clearly didn't take anything story wise seriously, just had fun. That's what makes it pure joy.

Way too expensive for what it is. I really should have listened to all the other reviews. The content warning definitely makes it seem worse than it actually is - which is, frankly, not much. Even the sexual content was overhyped and lackluster (you want detailed sex scenes? Go play A Kiss From Death. Damn.) Also, a cyoa game should let you..choose your own adventure. Eh, it was kinda funny on occasion. I liked the don't hug me I'm scared reference.

Seriously the stats are useless and mean nothing. So at first the stats do something although as you continue on it gets annoying because, your stats are useless. The writing is childish although I'll admit it's not that bad as people are saying, well maybe for me, like I chuckled or grinned at some parts. The only REAL PROBLEM with the game are the stats are freaking useless. Way OVER PRICED, if it was like 3 or 4 dollars(CND) I would gave it more slack; felt like I wasted my money.

Underwhelming, I expected more giving the description. For once, I payed before I played the opening, I truly wished I hadn't done that. I was expecting a gritty, mature, compelling and explicit story and instead found a story that sounded like it came from a child trying to act older. It had potential but fell victim to it's own humor.

I was actually pretty intrigued by the content warning at the beginning. I thought it was going to be a very mature game that really dealt with real world issues. Unfortunately, it was just incredibly childish. I decided to buy the full game, just to give it a fair chance, and it only went downhill the more I read. It felt like it was written by a child. I definitely wouldn't purchase this game

I'm always on the CoG and HG forums and unfortunately, the author is making more stupid games like this one. Games where your choices don't matter, where you can't do certain things even though you're given the option to do so. It's arbitrary, realistically. Nothing you do works apart from guessing at the answer to see if you make it through. Plus, it's also breached a lot of copyright scenes and moments from other stories and shows. Overall, don't purchase this trash story written by a child.

My problems with the game does not stem from the writing, i actually consider this product very well written and hilarious. The massive problem with this game is its false advertising and its almost impossible to beat without scrapping your own character in favor of appeasing the authors meta. I reccomend the author focus less on stats and more on balancing his games in the future. The writing is impressive for a rookie but his stat balancing is garbage dont buy the game if u plan on beating it.

I actually purchased this book.I played this multiple times and finally beat it after doing some research. The actual ending was very anti-climatic, the story could have used more of an ending than it did.The training between fights would be better if it weren't a choice given to you with a yes or no.I always hit yes without realizing that if you say no it provides a different option for training. This might be partially responsible for so many people disliking this game.I don't recommend this one

I feel this could have used a re-draft and more verbose beta-testing before release. The stats seem irrelevant or non-existant in terms of game effectiveness. For the purpose of this game one similiar to that used in SLAMMED! would have made more sense. I found the writing unenjoyable. Scenes lacked clarity and dialouge was choppy and, at points, childish. It felt like their was more emphasis on building a world out of a street-fighter anime (which I like) than on immersive story building.

Poor writing, childish humor, and nonsensical/random choices. Most cyoa games will provide choices so you can succeed with almost any stat build, this one does not. More than a few of the scenarios come down to random choices that you must guess at to get correct. While the game makes several references to the old Def Jam games and clearly considers itself a spiritual successor, it does not pull it off. None of the characters are around long enough to matter. Overall, this is not worth it.

Worst text game on mobile. Stats don't matter. Money doesn't matter (you can go negative and stay negative). Choices don't matter. All fights have 1 or 2 chances to make a choice. There is only 1 correct choice (out of 4-6 options) and it's arbitrary. Choose the wrong arbitrary choice and you lose the match. Just bad. Avoid at all costs.

Irritatingly falsely advertised, I expected a gritty ctime drama and from the beginning it gives you a poorly written content warning. Big redflag from page 1. The story cintains multiple choiceless options and takes you on wacky adventures completely unprompted. If there was some warning beforehand I would have much less of an issue. Overall not the worst Hosted Game, as the writing itself is grammatically sound, but definitely not what the game says it is.

I knew I should have done the free play before buying this and really regretting it now. Stay away from it. It only gets that one star because it is unique and could have been something good but terrible choices, badly written, and your stats don't do anything. Once restarted it ten times to try different combinations at one fight and nothing changed it was pre set so you'd always lose it. Nice concept but awful, awful execution.

Tried the game for a while, couldn't finish it. Restarted a couple of times to see what would change, nothing much. Thought it would be an intense game, my mistake. As I progressed through the story, it became worse and very far fetched. Choices don't matter and regardless what you do, it generally isn't good enough. Might try to play it next year when I forget how poorly it is. How this made it to market is beyond me. You should charge a dollar. VERY BAD!

I bought it due to my nostalgia attached to the old Def Jam games, and was having fun with it for a while, but the longer I played the more frustrating it became. The beginning is undeniably a blast, and definitely scratched that Def Jam itch, but the latter part of the game can be frustrating especially if your a perfectionist like me. I've played through 3 times and still havent found a build capable of my perfect run. Still not a bad game, just frustrating at times.

There are parts where it seems impossible for you to have the stats required to succeed. At the same time parts where your stats didn't seem to matter at all and you were expected to just know the correct choice based off the most random logic ever. It would be a little less infuriating if there was a save system. Restarting a billion times, min-maxing stats at the cost of being able to build the backstory you want just so you can fail again is too frustrating despite me liking the genre a lot.
