I'd give this app 3 stars if I were to rate the app alone. But I like that Sync encrypts my data in transit and online. I find Sync to be fundamental to the way I work. But I wish that Sync integrated with Android services better. And mostly I wish that the Android app would simply have a designated auto-upload (e.g. sync) folder that automatically Sync files with the cloud. The Camera upload could be kludged into that function, but who wants to mix other files with the DCIM folder?!?

I recently realized that Sync is altering the files it uploads from my phone. I noticed that my location data was missing when I viewed the image on my computer after transfer. I verified my android settings and made sure there is nothing on my computer that would cause this. I performed an md5 sum on a file copied from my phone to my computer via usb and the same file downloaded from Sync after uploading from my phone. They were different. The phone pic included the gps info, the pic downloaded from Sync did not. It turns out that any location data is stripped from the file upon upload. I have confirmed this is normal behavior with Sync tech support. I wish I had been notified about this when I signed up. Now I'm faced with trying to reupload photos from old phone cards to a new service and only hope I have most of them.

The a pp is absolute trash. I wish I had known that before ponying up for 2tb of cloud storage. When you select files it doesn't even give you the option to upload. And then sometimes after selecting your file the screen just blanks out to black. What good is your service If it doesn't work?????? I would like my money back, now.

The app constantly crashes. A message is shown that the app crashed because it has a bug. When opening the app itself it will just close again. Camera upload just randomly stops working with no way to know that it stopped working. Considering moving to a different storage provider as these issues have been going on for months with no fix in sight.

I've had zero problems with the app or any other part of Sync's service. I researched cloud storage intensely before I chose Sync. The point is encryption, privacy, and sharing via encrypted links. Sync is well worth the money, well designed, & packed with features. If you couldn't care less about privacy or encryption and don't mind that Google, Microsoft, Dropbox, etc., can view all of your data then maybe Sync isn't for you. There are cheaper options out there that aren't privacy focused.

I'm giving 5 stars because I love what their mission is which is the only reason I signed with them! But their app needs a LOT of work! The features are sorely lacking and you cannot create text files through sync like you can through dropbox and that's just the beginning. I'm sticking with them for security but I hope they make it easy and not difficult for me to stick with them!

I really like the service itself. It is really easy to use, and supports editing Word, Excel, etc files. I am coming from Filen, and it is way better. The app is OK (it feels slightly janky), but it is a native app, which makes it feel nice and smooth. It also has camera upload which I feel OneDrive has done it first. Not to mention it has no ads (which I strongly hate apps that do). Edit: I took another star because I realized it has a limit of 3 links.

Update: The app won't download any files - pdf, doc, docx, etc., and I'm unable to open them. This has been going on for several months. Please fix. Old review: I love the end to end encryption - that's why I moved over from Dropbox. Love the ability to keep local or just in the cloud. The "Vault" is confusing and I don't see how it differs from cloud or local storage so I do not use that function. App, desktop and web portal all super easy to use. Thanks, Dev. Great product.

Paid for 2TB year plan. For the last two months, Android app is buggy and crashes instantly when trying to open the app. So I could not use the core funcionality to sync my photos. The app itself is okay, though does not provide the best UI/UX, missing some features (download more than one file at the time, sort files, etc). Looking for alternative solution to sync my files.

I have this app set to upload photos (Photo Upload option) on Wi-Fi only. If I'm on Wi-Fi and take a photo it works fine and uploads immediately. However, photos taken off-line (or on LTE) do NOT upload automatically when I am later back on Wi-Fi. The only way to get it to upload these photos is to force stop the app and re-start it at which point it realizes there are new photos to upload. If photos/videos are in the process of uploading when I leave wi-fi coverage, the notification panel will freeze in the drop down notification pane and again requires a force quit to kill. Using a One Plus 6.

When it works, it works great. But I've been having issues where photos stop uploading and the app crashes on open, forcing me to clear storage/uninstall. It's so bad now that I cannot wait until my subscription is up to switch providers. I really like the features Sync provides but these issues have been going on for months and the dev team clearly can't be bothered to fix them. A shame too, because not many cloud storage offerings have what Sync does. But I am so done trying to get this to work.

App freezes every time I open it on my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus (Verizon). No navigation inside the app. None of the feature slide (toggle) buttons work. No way to tell if a feature is "grayed out" due to being a premium feature (also no way to tell if a premium feature is available) or something like that, or whether the app has simply frozen. Uninstalled.

Their mission is awesome! And I fully support it, but it is such a downgrade from Dropbox that it makes it hard to switch (ESPECIALLY when it comes to editing word documents on mobile and also in general). I want to pay for their premium service (b/c I have a lot of files), but it's just such a skeleton of a service, I don't know...

Finally had to uninstall this from my phone. Constantly crashes it is completely unusable in this state. Few months back they implemented the ability to upload all your photos. It did some photos then stopped working. I contacted tech support February 26th. A ticket was created and has not been addressed yet they keep telling me to be patient it's been over 2 months now. Works fine on my PC and my tablet but on my phone it is a POS. What am I paying you guys for that's what I want to know???

Service and Fees are great when compared to other companies. The UI however is extremely dull and somewhat buggy, and there's no dark mode. Putting the application into grid view also looks terrible with small thumbnails and a large three-doted vertical menu under each thumbnail. I'd suggest a overhaul of the UI (the same opinions apply to the desktop version as well).

The Sync service itself is great, and it works beautifully on my desktop, however the app UI is a bit janky and the lack of dark mode is mildly annoying. The worst part is how slow it is. Moving between folders is sluggish, but god forbid you want to view a file, because the app just spins and spins. It has made the app essentially unusable and forces me to use the web interface which is extra janky on mobile.

Update: numerous times, across multiple phones, photo upload has stopped working without warning. If it breaks, I need to know what isn't being backed up, but I am given no warning sign. Great service on my PC and appreciate the privacy/security. Would be 5 stars if I could trust photo upload... Hopefully they can fix this!

well, it used to be 5 stars but it's been crashing a lot on Android. I was told by cust service to uninstall and reínstall. that Jack's up my photo backup. shouldn't have to do that... I see no ads because I'm a paid subscriber. hope reínstall works cuz I might have to go back to Dropbox *update 5/5/24. It's been working better but does not always update my camera upload. Works great to share videos tho

Issues with Android 14 - the app will not allow any file to be "saved to device" thru the app. Get an error message "Camera upload is not allowed" - even though I'm not uploading anything from the camera, rather I'm attempting to DOWNLOAD the file in my Sync folder (on the cloud) to my phone. **UPDATE** - it turns out NOTIFICATIONS has to be enabled for the Sync app. Not sure how notifications has anything to do with saving to phones memory?!?! But whatever. Got it working now. Phew.

No frills, straightforward interface. I appreciate that there are thumbnails with the images, so I can preview what I'm opening before choosing it. When I downloaded the app and signed on for the first time through my phone, all the files I had uploaded from my PC earlier in the day were all there--so no problem with syncing, so far.
