I wish I had read of the 1000 file limit in Synology Drive before I bought this thing to store my stop motion photography content, that might be a deal breaker. Needs to have pause and resume for interrupted transfers to and from the ds220+, also bandwidth throttling. I expected more commonsense features after reading a glowing product review for the ds220+ and buying. I want this device to be more like Google Drive's UI.

This does not work at all like the desktop app. I can see my files, great. But changes don't sync. For example, I have a spreadsheet on my NAS, I open it in the app, I make a change, then it says "unsaved changes", which all but forces me to save in Google Docs, completely defeating the purpose of this app. I was going to deploy for my whole organization, but I'm lost at how this is even usable, it's down sync only. You can't even edit a Synology Doc on Android

I thought this would work like Dropbox, allowing me to 2 way sync a file that is edited and saved in another Android app. For example, changes to a KeePass data file using the KeePassDX app can be synced with DropBox. No such luck with Synology Drive, can't even see the KeePass file in anywhere on my file system. Giving up on this useless app.

why can't it just present a list of folders, let you check them, and pick a target on the NAS? Currently I can only sync folders I create, Android won't allow me to select download, etc. Then what about Drive vs DS file? and don't get me started with Photo. The current options require too much effort to just make copies of your phone or sync files

For anyone having sync issues or unable to upload photos, files, etc. (ie getting "operation failed") since the latest app update around June 2022, try updating the Synology Drive Server app on your NAS. I had upload failure issues but updating the Drive app in DSM worked. However, now I have to update the desktop client apps everywhere, as do all of my server users. HUGE PAIN! It's quite frustrating the mobile app auto-updated to a version incompatible with the version running on my NAS...

This cannot synchronize folders, which is literally the only thing I want it to be able to do. Marking individual folders for offline access is a pain, and it seems like this app has a very aggressive anti-caching strategy; I have had it remove downloaded files while I was in the middle of viewing them in another application. There's literally no reason to use this when Synology's own DS File app is better for remote file management and downloading.

It is very problematic and not good written software, DSM 7.. is also included. All these Sonology apps like File Station, Control Panel, Admin Console and etc. should be combined in one nice dashboard. It is very confusing at the present time and not user-friendly at all. Lack of training materials and instructions are obvious. I noticed in some cases that even tech support doesn't know the answers to their problems. Hope they do something well soon.

The UI is a clean look and a nice improvement over previous offerings, but that can't compensate for the lack of core critical features. 1. Cannot select directories for offline use, have to pick file by file. 2. Cannot find Drive files or folders from other apps. (Maybe doesn't integrate Android 10's file picker?) 3. Others have pointed out you cannot synch changes up. These aren't just style preferences, these are the core features needed from any app like this. Without them, you basically have more functionality from sending yourself a shareable link to a drive on your NAS. I have a lot of faith in Synology to do this right and provide a Dropbox killer. Please prioritize these features and make this the app it could be.

As another user said, my Synology works just fine. I can open files create folder, etc with no problem and no true delay. My problem, as was his, is that for as much as this app wants to mimic Google Drive it lacks the key functionality of online editing. I should not have to download the file, edit the file, then reupload it, THEN convert it back to the Synology Drive format. Please guys, add this functionality

This needs a one way sync like the old DS application that's no longer supported with the new DSM version. Another one, when a sync task fails it shows up as successful most of the time, only way I would know is if I check and compare the file count. Now if I find the culprit file from the phone it would say theres an error, I have to resync again the folder but it will still be the same, I have to log off and log on to see if that works. Most of the time it does not sync.

Cannot synchronize important folders. The "Download" folder is the only one that I need synchronized and they purposely block it in this app. They could just have a warning dialog saying that choosing to synchronize this folder may expose you to privacy risks... But it really doesn't add any risks beyond any other synchronized folder. They could easily improve this app and remove this limitation... Wish they would.

Works great for the most part. I've replaced DS File's backup with this, because I can specifically select the folders I want. Only issue so far is, this app is locating hidden folders. So the .thumbnail folder in my Pictures folder is getting pulled, and I am seeing everything from this folder twice. Instead, I have to add each Pictures subfolder manually adding instead of it automatically populating. Reply to dev: Using Sync Task. Photos does not find this Android 14 Pictures folder.

What it does, it does well. I have several important files bidirectionally sync'd across phone, server, desktop and laptop. However, I'm docking 2 start because I can't choose other folders to sync (such as my DCIM folder). As others noted, this is a weakness in Syno Drive brought to light as the semi-unrelated removal of DS Cloud sync (and Drive gets advertised as being the replacement). Drive doesn't accomplish the great capability of DS Cloud.

I still use this every day for work related documents. Syncs up all my documents, mostly PDFs between my Pixel, Samsung tablet and Linux/Windows desktops. Driver server has change history. Does everything I need it to. I wish there was a way around the Android permissions issue as i can't sync my downloads folder on Android 13 but I'm still researching that part. You just have to make sure you're NAS and router are setup properly. Lots of demo videos available online.

After upgrading to DSM 7.0 I was told I have to use this app. Now I cannot sign in to Drive at all. Security Camera and Photo backups are working with the other apps. This is the only one that doesn't work. Edit: disabling HTTPS allowed me to sign in. However, this is insane and insecure. Additionally, I can only view files in the Drive, not files in any of my separately setup shares. This functionality is missing from this new app. Edit 2: you have to manually enable the shares from.

I like my Synology NAS a lot. While this app is pretty good, the automatic photo upload can fail to work. And once it fails, it is difficult to get it to start working again without an app reinstall. Once the files are on the NAS, however, this app is great. I can browse my files and access them very quickly. As the bugs are worked out, this will be a very nice Google Drive replacement.

Poor solution :( Some of the files are not syncing. For example: you're uploading 10 files from your phone to your NAS. You started the upload, and you switched to a different app. Sometimes, some of the files won't be uploaded :( Yes, if the connection was dropped, the drive on the phone will not try to upload the files again and again. People are losing critical data. Do yourself a favor and get Google drive. Also, sometimes the drive client doesn't work with ExpressVPN. App crashes randomly

I gotta be honest, I really expected a better experience from Synology. Why are you making me download like 5 apps and creating multiple user/account names and jumping through a million security hoops to get started? Quickconnect STILL isn't working after downloading the secure sign in app and tinkering with my security settings on my PC. This is really f-ing frustrating.

Oddly inconvenient and hard to use. I could go on for a half hour, but it has strange defaults that automatically copy anything you view back onto your phone which will fill it up. Automatically generates what it thinks are recent file thumbnails from last year and selects 0.001% of my files and says those are the recent ones. wrong. Cryptic buttons instead of labels on anything. Defaults look at wrong folder despite telling it where to look. Autogenerated backup has strange folder names.

On Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 terrible delayed or no sync for random markdown files containing YAML for VuePress website. No special characters in file name, files are physically on the NAS file system. Can be seen using the Drive mobile app under files. But some are not on my Mobile phone, logs of why a file won't sync and would be nice. Background sync (blank screen) why that experience on a phone. Most people will want to do some work while that background thing works. It's confusing.
