Patience & kindness goes a long way, esp. since we all knew we were investing in a kickstarter that could save children's lives. And what a wonderful result! The first of it's kind (4G), and I'm simply amazed at the quality and the basic things you got right that all the other cheap 2G watches missed. So far every feature works well for me. Fantastic watch! I expected bugs, but the turnaround for fixing issues is great. Thank you for putting such a small price on peace of mind! I bought two!

Setup is a BREEZE and so easy to use! I got this for my youngest child because they are constantly losing their phone. Setup was VERY easy! It took me less than 15 minutes from opening the box to having it activated, loaded with contacts, and testing it out! It's loud enough that my kid can easily hear it, and the call quality is very good! Best purchase I've made this year!

update:it just keeps getting worselove what the product is supposed to do BUT when our daugther sends messages from the watch, we do not receive them. facechat is not working either. Preset contacts should be able to call the watch when firewall is activated but we cannot call unless the firewall is turned off. If the firewall is turned off, any number can contact her. This defeats the purpose of the watch and it's limitations. Please fix. We are really excited to start enjoying all the features.

Pros: Tracks location for two/three days on full charge if no other function on smartwatch is used, great security controls plus can be configured so that it cannot be turned off easily (only by removing battery). Easy to use once kidis trained Cons: If using any substantial feature on phone like calling/messaging/video call etc, phone overheats and charge drops rapidly to zero. So you have to reserve the substantial features for single use only during an emeergency.

I think this program needs geofencing alerts. I was told by the representative that it may have something to do with the risk of getting false alerts, but I think they should still offer the service with a disclaimer indicating that if the radius is too small then you may receive false alerts. But having geofencing is very important. Otherwise, an excellent watch with all the features except the one I just mentioned! Would be nice to see that you could archive messages and audio recordings!

Watch build quality is ok. Silver button lost function after a year. Current problems - message notifications not working on Android (like others mentioned) - it doesn't seem to actually have GPS. GPS doesn't need cellular or wifi, but watch needs INTERNET to send location to server at configured interval. Displayed watch location isn't close to GPS standards Needs: -SMS capability on the watch for (at least) allowed contacts - remote control over watch ringer & "find me" ping

The app works, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1. Otherwise, this app is hardly helpful. I'm constantly having to restart the app to get it to properly connect and update anything like messages and locations. The push notifications I get for messages are hardly accurate. Sometimes I'll get a push for a message I had already received, sometimes days ago. The app also needs better English localization. Setting a duration for "Do Not Disturb" is a good idea, but poorly implemented. It's impossible to set a single duration across midnight. Also, totally locking the user out is a little overkill, and giving more options to what features are locked out would be nice. The app also doesn't allow for multiple admins. This makes setting up frustrating between both parents.

Great app. A few issues: 1. You can't see all messages, just the ones you're attached to. 2. Other users that download the app to message the child can also automatically message other users associated with the watch. That needs to change. 3. The GPS is severely lacking for rural areas and not accurate in the least.

Clearly this company decided to put the watch out before it was complete in order to get Christmas orders. A good company never puts out a product that's incomplete, but they would have missed out on all the holiday sales. The flip side is, now they have all these negative reviews. So that's why we get all the bugs and under construction messages. i originally gave it 3 stars. Changed to 1 star when the piece on the watch that holds the wristband broke off at the top. Now wristband cant attach.

This was the best investment. It works great to me. Initially i had problems with opening app and receiving messages, but after i contacted technical support, the very next day they fix it by updating the software for Android. My husband who has an iPhone has no problem at all. The watch allows to give/receive calls, text/voice messages , do facetime! its a great way to stay and touch with your child in real time and track every step. "hearing" feature allows you to hear whats going on around

Messaging needs work! I get notifications 6 to 8 HOURS (!) after my child sends me a message. Apparently the app logs itself out when not actively being used on the phone. Only when I manually open the app do I get the texts or voice messages (instantly) as well as the messages sent hours earlier. GPS locator works well. Calls work well. (Redtalk mobile, Samsung S8)

Location tracking is highly innacurate. The app is slow and periodically stops sending notifications even though is allowed to run all the time and never sleep. I have to remember to open it every hour to see if there are any new messages from my kids. Also the watch doesn't support SMS from allowed contacts and they disguise it as a security feature to force the use of their app. At least phone calls work.

The app is total garbage. It crashed on two different phones continuously. I had to do a combination of deleting cache and data continuously. Notifications don't take you to the proper screen. Messages don't go through sometimes and you have to retry. Don't buy for kids

Watch is fine. But the app stinks. Constantly says "connecting to server" when I try to read or send messages on the app, even when I'm on strong wifi/cell coverage. I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to get connectivity correct but I guess I'm wrong about that

GPS is incorrect. We bought this specifically for the location and phone features. I am greatly disappointed that not only is the location not even slightly off but not even the same city and sometimes the wrong state. The phone part works fine and blocking unknown numbers works.

There are so many problems with this watch. The app crashes frequently, the location of the watch shows it as 200 miles away, you can't select phone number for the watch, and other smaller issues. After all of this, they expect me to pay shipping to return the watch. I'll be disputing this charge on my credit card.

I'm able to read my messages from all other apps on my Garmin watch. But TickTalk notifications don't contain a message preview. It just says I have a ticktalk message. So I have to dig up my phone, and go through a series of about 10 clicks to find the message. The notification does not take you to the app. Going to the messages does not load the newest message. You have to go back out of the app and go back in. It takes a long time to find out what my kid wants to tell me.

So I went to update some settings on the app, and it appears all previous setup is lost. It's asking me to re setup the watches. The app in my location doesn't seem to have many issues, but the location of my kids isn't as "real time" as I'd like it to be. My main issue is with the app at the moment. If I can get it logged in and working again, then if my settings are still there, I will come back and rate this better.

Update: OK, we have lift off! I tried every day last week (starting Tuesday) and finally this morning the SIM card is working. Voice calling works, location tracking works, texting works, etc. Super excited There are way too many bugs on the Tick Talk 5. The Sim is activated, but it won't make or receive calls, as soon as it's outside of wifi it goes offline (essentially defeating the entire reason I bought the watch). I hope these issues get worked out otherwise this watch is getting returned!

The app crashes repeatedly when trying to open/log in. The location tracking will tell us the watch is an hour away randomly when it's at home but will work other times. Just activated the watch yesterday and not at all impressed with the app which you need to use to communicate with or locate your child at all. You can call the watch without the app, thankfully. I will update if it improves.
