Love 2 of the 3 freelancers I hired (1 was decent.)... however my main one can't sign in or get my messages properly etc. Now and it's a regular occurance. We can't use the phone chat and have to use another app entirely for phone calls. They charge a fee for me to pay them and when I mentioned this to one of the feelancers I heard they also take a very large cut of their pay too and still say the freelancers are paid in full. Putting up jobs, profiles, and finding people is easy. But trash.

Unfortunately, it could have been a great app, but it is just another website inside a frame with all the associated pitfalls, like status indicators getting stuck, pages requiring refreshes instead of updating instantly, and so forth. Same issue on desktop, except even worse. Native apps are so much better.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, FIX THE BLOODY MOBILE APP! IT'S ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS AND DEVS SHOULD BE VERY ASHAMED. specifically, I am talking about the mobile chat box. It's plagued with problems that need to be fixed. For instance creating infinite copy pastes of my sentences, inserting infinite spaces, and more! It's awful I initially gave this app 3 stars because the mobile app was doing the same stuff a while back. It appeared to be fixed for a while and now I'm having the same issues but worse.

Glitchy, and difficult to reach Support. New messages appear as notifications, but do not refresh/show properly when inside the app, often taking days for the thread to be current. There is also no way to archive message threads, here or on the main browser interface. ======= Got asked again to rate the app; so will do. If I could go zero stars I would. No reason for it to behave with such a lag & uncertainty in the year 2021.

Messaging is a nightmare. Don't rely on this messaging app If your using it to communicate with your hire while you're away from your computer. I was able to send a message every half hour. In between I was trying to connect and resend messages. Pretty weird how bad this app is. I guess we just take seamless chat for granted. This isn't it. I'll just use my computer

Horrible app. UpWork itself is great, but this app is unresponsive, crashes all the time, notifications don't work, and runs extremely slow. I have deleted and reinstalled multiple times, but there is no fix. I will have to look to use other job platforms as the app experience elsewhere is efficient.

I like up work. I have built my side business on it.. but I'm getting a little tired of the app not working when I set milestones. I'm a remote worker I'm not sure if it's the internet connection sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't work. I'll fill out a milestone and then the information is lost, I have to do it again, or I end up just going to the website on my phone and not using the app. This is time consuming and annoying. I wish setting milestones was easier and I didn't have do over

Messages don't keep up to date half the time but it doesn't inform you. Clicking refresh doesn't fix. Have to use the website to see what is going on. Can't download files from messages via the app either. I have spent money on contractors doing the wrong thing their messages did not show up on the app but my messages to them would still send. Very dangerous to use this app when real-time communication is important.

Overall, great app! Has been really helpful for finding resources for specific tasks and project. I would have give 5 stars, but the WiFi calling feature quality is very inconsistent. The dial in option was not displaying on a few occasions. The combination of the last two items makes communication a little harder because sometimes it's just more efficient to talk over the phone as opposed to written messages. Hopefully, that improves since they want all communication to be on their platform.

The app is ok, but has potential. I don't know what they've done, but the Android app over the last several months has been very buggy and not preformed well. I haven't seen any information on possible fixes from the team. I communicate with my developers a lot using the app, and lately I've had to resort to using the web version a lot. I would also like to see in chat search just as in the web version, and not only searching for the actual chat message itself. Notifications are buggy too.

A major issue with this app is that the messages don't update. You can get an email notification that a freelancer has sent you a message, but when you click through the app won't display the message even if you hit refresh several times. Messaging is the main reason I need the app, so this is a major limitation. Seems easy to fix. They should hire someone on upwork to fix it for them.

This app is slow and clunky. The chat feature is horrible for communication. It is the most used feature and is almost unusable due to the poor responsiveness. I like the chat layout in the previous app. This one is not as good. Seems like the app constantly loses connection...it gives message "Internet Connection Not Available"; although none of my other apps seem to have this issue.

The app is super buggy and becomes unresponsive constantly. Sometimes it can take up to 20 seconds for messages to load on a 300mbps connection. Almost unusable, and then if you have it installed you can't use the website to respond to messages because it redirects you back to the app. Fix the issues with the app if you are going to force redirect. Only thing it's good for is push notifications.

Website is good but the app is pretty poor. The messaging is not instant, you get notified after a few minutes. The app doesn't keep you logged in, when I try to refresh on the messages page, it shows errors, I then need to log out and log back in. Some of these should be quick fixes which I hope the team does so I can update my rating of the app. Love upwork though!

Really bad implementation. Not only uncomfortable but not functional. The app is slow. The way it, the website and the backend are built it takes too long on go to another screen, to click a button, to send a message. The when asynchronous way it's built makes it in ecessarily slow. Now that issue appears on the app as well, but sometimes the app gets confused and doesn't work anymore. Like now i can't message a freelancer because the message box isn't working. Seriously bad UX.

UI a bit confusing, things aren't where you think they should be. This is the only app with messaging that requires me to "fix" notifications which is extremely strange, this should be a no-brainer to fix as most won't know how (or care) to fix it themselves, they'll just uninstall. App needs a dark theme too. Otherwise it seems to work fine and without too much lag.

The connection to messages received is terrible. I can get an alert about a new message from my UpWorker and upon opening the app, the message doesn't appear. All attempts to use the "refresh" feature, close the app and reopen, even a phone restart fail to show the previously received message. Eventually I just login to the browser and retrieve my message. Waste.

Finally an app with the functionalities available in the browser version. Yay! But it's not all good news. If you're lucky, the message sync time is LONG, but frequently it doesn't refresh at all. Considering Upwork operates one of the largest developer freelancer marketplaces in the world, the poor architecture of this app seems almost impossible to believe.

Jesus Christ this new app SUCKS. It cannot complete the simplest task. The older version, i used to be able to download a picture that was send to me and it would go straight to my download file on my phone. NOW!? No idea where it goes. Copy and paste messages that was send was a breeze. NOW, I have to quote. I don't want to quote. I sometimes need to copy and paste it on my note. I can go on and on with the many other issues but I don't have the time or the patient.

I use Upwork a lot, every day. Is an excellent app to find great specialists in multiple areas, who are highly experienced. Upwork has carefully thought through the user's needs, has a user-friendly interface, and as a user I am able to easily manage my contractors. There are many, many qualified professionals to choise from, and easy to qualify. I use on both my phone and my laptop. Highly recommended.
