** Using with SunChip 4k Action Cam (a product that SunChip themselves don't appear to acknowledge the existence of). Remote-control basics work properly once connected, with caveats (keep reading). ** Requires location permissions which are categorically not needed for normal function. Placemarking things (assuming it uses GPS for that at all, untested) should be optional as with most other camera apps, not mandatory. ** Can't connect via wifi to cam directly from the app (cryptic badly-translated error messages result as mentioned in other reviews); connecting to the cam from the android wifi settings works fine and remote control aspects work after that. No idea if the sharing functions or stream-recording to the phone work as I will never be using them or likely even testing them (rapidly eats phone battery, easier, more reliable and longer-lasting to use the camera interface itself in most cases). ** Camera connection via wifi means losing internet access on your phone unless you permit auto-switching to mobile data (not all phones manage this well), so it at least looks like *while the app is connected to the camera* it can't access the internet at large and can't phone home with anything. ** Not sure how sharing functions etc. are supposed to work when general app use requires disconnecting from the internet but maybe this is a good thing, privacy-wise. ** Interface (on both the camera and app) has very poor but workable translations; a couple of setting-names contradict what the camera interface itself says - timelapse and slow-motion settings are mixed-up but experimenting figures out what does what. ** Live preview dies if the phone times out/locks/reverts to power saving modes (eg. when wifi is set to be off when device idles), requiring exiting the app, turning wifi off then back on on camera (interrupting recording), then reconnecting the camera via wifi and re-opening the app. Power management on your device might have to be disabled to ensure uninterrupted operation but I haven't tried this. ** As a result this is *completely unsuitable for monitoring/surveillance use as the app is incapable of working for periods of time longer than the screen timeout of your device*. ** The basics do work, but using the camera itself (not by wifi) will likely be more practical and predictable, not to mention battery life for both devices lasting a lot longer that way.

You get what you pay for. The camera was super cheap and came with accessories. The app is functional in transferring files and controlling the camera remotely, but the instructions are not clear at all. Before opening the app, you have to activate the camera's WiFi from the camera's menu and connect your Android device to the WiFi network mentioned in the camera's screen (Sport Camera in my case) with its respective password. I still find very annoying that GPS is required to use the app.

The XDV app cannot see the WiFi connection, even though the phone shows as connected to it. The app cannot see the camera at all and just constantly says it is offline. As a result, this cannot see the TF Card for viewing media. As it stands, the app has a long way to go, unfortunately. I'm sad to say that simply does not work and shouldn't be available in Google Play Store until it does.

Connects ok, but does nothing else. On starting the app, it always goes to the Select Wifi screen, which indicates my camera is currently connected. When I back-out of that screen, the app closes. If I re-select camera, the app closes. And so on, round in circles. Same on 2 different phones. I think I must return the camera for refund. Any better ideas?

Like the majority who have reviewed this app, it isn't deserving of one star, but I have to give it something. I tried using the app with an Andoer 4K camera, and on the first attempt, I was able to connect my phone to the camera. I don't know why they insist that GPS be enabled for it to work though. I was able to go into the various menus, change some settings on the camera, and even start and stop a recording, and even delete it as well. However, trying to connect to it again has proved impossible, as every time I select the camera from the list of wi-fi spots, it says it is connecting and has the little spinning arrows, but after about five seconds it just freezes up. I then have to terminate it. I've tried numerous times to connect, and also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, all to no avail. Avoid at all costs unless they seriously improve it, and since the link to their website doesn't work, that seems highly unlikely. Anybody looking for an alternative app to try should consider GoAction. I just tried it and not only does it successfully connect to the camera on multiple occasions, it also does NOT require GPS to be enabled.

The app itself is very buggy. I can confirm what others have seen the inability to connect to the camera via the app. I have a solution though! The problem seems to be linked to the phones mobile data. Turning off my phone's mobile data allows me to connect to the camera most of the time. In summary, if you cant connect via 'wifi' try turning off your phones mobile data. This works for me

Absolutely appalling. Does NOT work. Shows the device as offline, even though it is connected to the WiFi of the device. It also tells you that there is no TF card in the device, even when you have one in and the photos are stored on it (you can view them on the device). So basically you can't do anything with the app, you can't view/download/delete your media. Worthless app and device. Device is Lamtech Action Camera.

There are no options in the wireless control for zoom or even starting and stopping the video. It's very unintuitive, and much of the feature set of the camera is unavailable. This app needs to be expanded to allow for zoom when recording wirelessly, and recording controls would be really nice as well.

can't really give the app a tested rating, as it refused to connect to my camera, declaring that it needed at least an 8 bit long password. camera only allows setting a 5 digit numeric password, which is over 8 bits of data in any non binary number system that i know of. which suggests they actually meant 8 character password, which again my camera doesn't support. so it might be a wonderful app for your camera, just not for mine. app requires location access, which is also a deal breaker for me

I brought an action camera and this is the app it says to use with it. The Wi-Fi set up for this is asinine. It just doesn't hold. Once you figure it out and get it connected every five seconds its disconnecting and you have to start all over again. Don't bother trying to download videos over WiFi. If you can get it to work, it is a decent remote for starting and stopping to record, but my camera came with a remote so I really don't need the app.

I didn't have any issue connecting the camera to the app. Test pictures seemed to work just fine. For a $35 Costco purchase (Explore One "4k" camera version) the app seems adequate enough. My only complaint is that there doesn't appear to be a way to utilize the SD card on my phone which has much more storage than my internal phone memory. I'm not too worried about it though as I can purchase (64gb) microSD cards for the camera and transfer stuff directly to my laptop, if I need to.

After reading all these one star reviews I'm a little baffled. Other than needing to put my S9 plus into airplane mode and making sure I'm connected to the camera before launching the app everything seems to work as it should for me. The only exception to that is that I highly recommend you take at least one picture manually first and leave one in the camera memory at all times. There seems to be a glitch in this software if it doesn't find any files stored in the camera. This needs a fix.

This app is not worth downloading. If you have an SD card a USB, download files to your computer. Now unless you want to film your vids live & have an access to your pics & vids this app is just for you. I downloaded the app even with its abysmal rating, just to see what it offered. It asks for the normal phone, files & media, & location. I don't like my location on all the time that's just me, but you can't progress in the app without your location constantly on. It's an annoyance. You do You!

Can't connect to my camera and this app keeps crashing. Totally worthless. *Edit*. I finally managed to connect to my camera through the wifi, but still can't download videos to my phone. Every time I try it says download failed. So it's still totally worthless. I can access the videos by plugging the camera into my laptop, but this app is a waste of storage space.

I can't get it to connect to the camera even though my phone is connected to the cameras wifi. (Dragon touch vision 3 pro.) I've restarted both devices and tried multiple time and still no luck. It's either the app or the camera won't talk to the app, I'm not sure which. In any case, it's useless at this juncture.

It fully worked & I was able to view a live feed of the camera with minor to moderate lag spikes that were clearly present (not that much of an issue). But I noticed when I start the app, connect to the camera & start recording, once I minimized the app, & open the app again the video recording would COMPLETELY STOP! The worse part about it is, when the app is popped open again after minimizing it, the screen would clearly shows that it's "recording" when it's NOT. Bull in my opinion. Uninstall

Had to turn the phone to "airplane mode" and then then on WiFi (app doesn't tell you). Finally connected. Sometimes it doesn't pick up that the camera WiFi is on, still shows it as disconnected, have to try over and over. Figured out how to "download" pictures off the camera onto the phone, but the app crashes whenever I try to share them. If I go into the app when the camera WiFi off, the app goes into "offline" mode, and doesn't show the pics I downloaded. Rough experience so far.

Would easily get 5 stars if I could connect to my camera. The app just sits idle on the "connecting" prompt. I was able to connect to it the first couple times I tried but now, nothing. Would also be a nice feature to be able to plug the camera into my phone with the same features and options it gives me when I plug into my computer... when using a USB cable the camera does not even recognize that there is another device connected, and vise versa, the phone does not see the camera either.

Initially i was unable to connect to the camera even after disabling data, etc...all the steps that other ppl stated. I continued to receive the message that the device was not online, the card wasnt in, etc.. Finally, I decided to hit "shoot" first instead of looking for media files, and bam, it connected. Then, I was able to 'see' the files. I was able to take pics from my phone. How useful the app is or how well it works remains to be seen. Having trouble with playback.

The App goes instantly to the wifi connect, but never picks up the camera's wifi. Yes, I know it is supposed to connect to the camera's Wifi, but it's not available, and there is no menu, no way to configure anything. Yes, I tried changing the airplane mode, and the mobile data settings. Still nothing. The instructions are minimal, poorly written and not at all helpful. I have no idea on the app interface or functionality because I can never get beyond the connect screen.
