yaxim (Yet Another XMPP Instant Messenger) is an XMPP client with a clean user interface and open source (GPLv2). Why pay for SMS if you can have unlimited messaging on your data plan? yaxim aims at security, low overhead and keeping your server connection open. So far, it only supports a single account.
Features: * Connection with a single XMPP server (or GTalk, or Facebook Chat, or …) * Immediate reconnection on 3G/WiFi...

Seems great.. Seems like a copy of Bruno with slight changes. If it's anything as good as Bruno, it's great. Will test it out.

Connection issues. The latest update you can connect from the mobile network, but not from wifi. The obvious difference is that your LAN probably doesn't support ipv6. Solution is to manually enter the ipv4 address of the server as custom hostname.

Just switched from Xabber - their client doesn't work well on Samsung phones. Yaxim is a relief after the above mentioned client. A feature request. It'd be cool if Yaxim showed pictures right in the chat window without having to open a broswer (Sawim could do that). Another important thing missing is room management and moderator's commands. At least I couldn't find how to do that.

ICQ Jimm app for Java2ME feature phones weights ~100KB & runs faster... Why comparable app for Android weights ~ 30 (!..) times heavier & runs slowlier, of course?.. I need just a text & URL (clickable) transfer IM app only: with no f*c*ing voice-/video- calls!!!

It lacks OMEMO, auto-away and support to view user profiles, but otherwise is a stable and - if all you need is plain text messaging and HTTP file sharing - perfectly tolerable client to use. UI is better than Conversations' IMO. Wish it wasn't so abandoned.
